Andrew Austen Luck, more popularly known as Andrew Luck, is a former quarterback who played for the National Football League NFL team, the Indianapolis Colts. He played college football for Stanford University (the Stanford Cardinal football team). Luck was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft as the first overall pick.
Andrew Luck was a fantastic player and achieved immense success during his short seven-year career with the Indianapolis Colts. He received Pro Bowl honors four times in that time period. Along with that, he also won the NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 2018.
Andrew Luck recorded some incredible numbers for the Indianapolis Colts and finished with 23,671 yards with a passer rating of 89.5. He completed 2000 passes out of the 3,290 pass attempts, for a pass completion percentage of 60.8. He also recorded 171 touchdowns and 83 interceptions.
However, the question one must ask is: after being such a talented player, why did Andrew Luck decide to retire so early? The first and foremost reason to consider would be the number of injuries he had to sustain. Andrew Luck suffered a host of different injuries, which kept him out for several games.
In his short playing career, Andrew Luck suffered from injured ribs, a lacerated kidney, and torn cartilage in his throwing shoulder. Along with this, he had an injury to his calf and ankle, as well as concussions. With so many multiple setbacks, it became very difficult for him to recover and then continue at such a high level. Moreover, Luck later revealed that it took a toll on his mental health as well.
NFL analyst Dov Kleiman provides an interesting comparison between Andrew Luck and Joe Burrow
NFL analyst Dov Kleiman has recently given an insightful analysis of the injury patterns of former player Andrew Luck and Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. Joe Burrow suffered a wrist injury in the game against the Baltimore Ravens. It has been confirmed that he will be out for the rest of the season.
#Colts QB Andrew Luck retired early from the NFL at age 29 after suffering countless injuries.
He was sacked 115 times in 55 games.
Joe Burrow has already been sacked 148 times in 52 games ❗
Burrow already suffered two season-ending injuries in his 4-year career.

Dov Kleiman has pointed out that Andrew Luck had been sacked a total of 115 times in 55 games and had to retire at 29. On the other hand, Joe Burrow has already been sacked a total of 148 times in 52 games. Burrow’s count is far higher than Luck’s, even after playing fewer games! This begs the question: will Joe Burrow also retire early like Andrew Luck?
NFL fans on social media too could not help but agree with Kleiman’s point. Many accepted that Joe Burrow’s career is heading towards that way and said – “Said the same thing a day after the game. I’m worried it’s heading that way.” Another fan said – “Burrow should retire.”
Joe Burrow has already suffered two season-ending injuries in his short four-year career with the Cincinnati Bengals. In his rookie year back in 2020, Joe Burrow had a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee after just ten games, which ended his season. With another season gone down the drain, it’s possible we are witnessing the making of another Andrew Luck.
