French MMA fighter Ciryl Gane was the victim of a robbery over the weekend as he fought Sergei Spivak during UFC Paris on September 2, 2023. Reports from French outlet Le Parisien suggest that someone close to Gane has betrayed him.
Gane’s apartment is situated in Nogent-sur-Marne, an eastern suburb of Paris. It is believed that the robbery took place overnight on Saturday and during the early hours of Sunday. This is the time during which Gane achieved his TKO victory over Spivak. At 7:30 AM on Sunday, local police were informed about a break-in at his apartment.

Le Parisien reports that items worth €150,000 ($162,000) were stolen. The items included a luxury Rolex watch and other jewels. The thief/thieves broke in through the front door of the house.
A roughly translated statement received from a source of Le Parisien states, “It is possible that the thugs have carried out scouting or that someone from the sportsman’s entourage has informed them about his schedule.”
The former interim UFC Heavyweight champion was betrayed by someone close to him. The anti-burglary unit of the police has taken over the case. No arrests have been made in the case, as of yet.
Ciryl Gane earned over $500,000 for his win over Sergey Spivak at UFC Paris
After his disappointing first-round loss against Jon Jones at UFC 285 for the vacant UFC Heavyweight championship, Gane looked to turn around his fortunes at UFC Paris. He faced Moldovan Spivak at his home event.
Gane dominated the first round with pinpoint striking and movement. In the second round, he came out with more aggression. The Frenchman continued with strong punches to the body and Spivak seemed to have worn down. By 3:44 minute, the Moldovan was rendered defenseless and Gane was awarded the victory via a TKO.
