Sasha Banks, (now Mercedes Moné) achieved much stardom because of her WWE run. Working for the promotion from 2012 to 2022, Banks attained much popularity and multiple championship runs. However, after parting ways with the Stamford-based promotion, her fame seemed to subside. In order to reignite her legacy, she had been rumored to sign with AEW.
Tony Khan has his eyes on many stars who have been released by WWE. He has already given the platform to stars such as Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Dean Ambrose and Chris Jericho, among many others, after their WWE releases. The recent times hinted the same for Sasha Banks. Mercedes Moné had joined NJPW after quitting WWE and it was obvious that her AEW offer must have been lucrative.

However, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select has broken the ice on her AEW signing. “The once working plans for AEW and Mercedes are no longer working plans,” he wrote. Sasha has been an asset for every promotion that she has worked for. With this being said, there is a possibility of her coming back to the Triple H-led promotion.
Why did Sasha Banks, aka Mercedes Moné, quit WWE?
Currently working for New Japan Pro-Wrestling, WWE holds a special place in Sasha Banks’ life. May 2022 marked the end of Sasha Banks’ WWE run. At that time, she had been the WWE Tag Team Champion along with Naomi, who is currently working for Impact Wrestling. The duo walked out of that episode of Monday Night RAW despite having the main event match. This compelled the management to let them go.
Naomi and Sasha Banks were stripped of their championships, but it was later revealed that the two dropped the titles on John Laurinaitis’ table before leaving. Post this, multiple people had different takes on the actual reason for their exit. “They claimed they weren’t respected enough as tag team champions,” WWE said.

On the other hand, there are also speculations that the two left the division owing to poor storylines and low salaries. Thus, the actual reason behind their exit remains unveiled. However, if Sasha Banks returns, she is sure to gather all her lost fandom and who knows, she may bounce back even harder, ruling the current women’s division.
