Tony Khan recently gave fans a pleasant surprise when former WWE star Saraya booked her ticket to the AEW Women’s Championship at All In London. With her entry into the Four-way match for the Women’s title, different speculations started circulating about the encounter.
One of the most exciting things going around at the moment is whether Mercedes Varnado will debut at the upcoming PPV. Formerly known as Sasha Banks, she is a highly accomplished female star, and her appearance at All In London would be a major boost for the Jacksonville-based promotion.
As one spot is still empty for the fatal four-way Championship match at the event, fans are backing Varnado to fill that position. If she really participates in the match as the fourth participant, it will not only mark her debut for promotion but will also see her in the same ring as her former WWE co-worker Saraya after a long time.
It must be noted that a match is already scheduled to be held on Dynamite’s upcoming episode to fill the final spot for the title bout. On August 16, 2023, Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D is set to fight The Bunny to qualify for the fourth position. Despite the qualification match already being in place, fans’ are still making wild predictions about Varnado’s AEW debut.
It is to be noted that The Outcast members Storm and Saraya are both in the match. Given their history with Baker, they might take out her and The Bunny before their match. Thus, the final spot might remain unfilled. This might lead to the former WWE Women’s Champion making her AEW debut.
If she does show up, then Varnado must win the AEW Women’s Championship. This will make her the first female star to win an AEW championship on her debut.
Mercedes Varnado was unhappy in WWE
Mercedes Varnado is best known for her work in the Stamford-based promotion. She is a six-time Women’s Champion in the Triple-H-led promotion. Her stint with the company didn’t end that well as she was unhappy in WWE.
Due to the same reasons, the former Women’s champion walked out of the company alongside her then-tag team partner, Naomi. This happened prior to the WWE Raw episode of May 16, 2022, as they were reportedly not happy about the ongoing creative direction for them. (Via: Daily DDT)
Interestingly, Banks and Naomi were the Women’s Tag Team Champions at that time. Their walkout on RAW led to major issues for the Stamford-based promotion. With the titles being forced to be vacated, a tournament took place to crown the new Women’s Tag Champions.
Looking at how Varnado‘s WWE stint ended, it doesn’t seem like she’ll return to Triple H’s company anytime soon. However, as it’s generally said in the professional wrestling industry, Never say Never. So, It’ll be interesting to see if we’ll ever get to see the former Women’s Champion in the promotion again.
