SUMMARY
- Andre Ball comes from a family of prominent basketball players, including his cousins Lonzo, LiAngelo, and LaMelo Ball.
- Dre Ball attended Chino Hills High School played varsity basketball for Chino Hills and later continued his basketball career at Pepperdine Waves after graduating in 2018.
Coming from a family of overachievers sometimes overshadows the smaller talent. This statement might not mean that the player has faults in his gameplay skills, but it is obvious when the elder brother snatches the limelight with their stellar play. Born to Andre and Stephanie Ball, Andre Ball has faced the same situation since his early childhood.
For those who don’t know, Andre Ball, often referred to as ‘Dre Ball’, is a cousin of the three prominent players. The eldest brother is Lonzo Ball (age 26), then comes LiAngelo Ball (age 25), and finally comes the NBA star guard, LaMelo Ball (age 22). Although Dre (age 23) is a cousin of Lonzo and others, it must be tough for the 6-7 guard to deal with little to no attention.
Dre Ball even covered the same issue in an interview on Overtime on August 14, 2020. Along with letting out information on how all the brothers used to stay together every hour of the day and how they spent their Sundays, the 6’7 guard revealed it all. Although the NCAA player was born in Torrance, California, he went on to play for Chino Hills High School. In the same interaction, Ball revealed how, even during his childhood, LaMelo Ball was considered to be the best.
‘Dre’ didn’t mince his words when he admitted that because of Lonzo’s game, the rest of the brothers ended up having good career trajectories. The reasoning behind this statement might be that since they all belonged to the same family, the selection committee gave all four the same recognition.
However, the second-youngest of the Ball brothers is himself a decent NCAA player, as it turns out. Well, basketball runs in the family, it seems.
Where is Andre Ball right now?
As per Andre, he attended a school in Carson for his primary education. It’s astonishing to know that all four brothers ended up going to the same high school and playing for the same team. Ball’s high school career started in 2014-15 when he was playing for the Chino Hills’ basketball team, as a varsity player for four years. He then went on to play for the Pepperdine Waves after graduating in 2018.
‘Dre’ represented jersey No. 10 and played a total of 42 games until 2020–21. In his last season with the Pepperdine Waves, the player recorded his season-high of 21 points while playing against California 62 in December 2020. The player scored a total of 134 points and managed to record 568 minutes on the court in his two seasons from 2018 to 19 and 2020-21.
Now, the player is playing alongside the basketball team at California State University. Representing jersey No. 5, Ball is playing his third season with the CS Dominguez Hills Toros. Andre Ball has played 60 games on the roster and has just recorded a score of 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists while facing off against the California State East Bay team on January 13, 2024.
