An NBA Insider for ESPN recently revealed some interesting information about the trade discussions that the Golden State Warriors were engaged in. As most fans should be aware, the Warriors did not start this season too well and are currently fighting for a spot in the postseason.
Ramona Shelburne is a well-known Insider for ESPN and has been noticed giving insightful takes and inside information on league activities. She discussed the conversations that occurred between the Golden State Warriors and Chicago Bulls prior to the trade deadline.
The Golden State Warriors instantly dismissed any Jonathan Kuminga trade discussion
After the Warriors traded away Jordan Poole in return for Chris Paul, several members of the media criticized them for throwing away their future in order to keep their veteran core together. However, the development of Jonathan Kuminga this season has made it quite clear that GSW is also developing its young stars for the future.
Ramona went on air and shared more on the trade talks between the Bulls and Warriors, “Golden State had very serious conversations about Alex Caruso, Kelly Olynyk, teams were calling about Andrew Wiggins… And I’m told Everybody asked for Jonathan Kuminga and they essentially said, We are never trading him. He is untouchable.”

Kuminga has been averaging 20.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists over the last 20 games. He has emerged as the second star for the Warriors and provided some much-needed assistance to Stephen Curry. Additionally, Andrew Wiggins has also been playing better in recent times.
Trading away Kuminga or even Wiggins for the likes of Alex Caruso or Kelly Olynk was a decision that the Warriors did not need to consider before dismissing. This leads fans to presume that the Warriors believe they can contend for a title and have some impact on the postseason with their current roster.
The Warriors have won 5 games in a row
Although the Golden State Warriors were struggling to rack up wins to start the NBA season, they have been doing much better in recent times and have won 5 games in a row. Their most recent victory came in a match against the Utah Jazz.
Thus, the Warriors have completely shut down any trade talks for Kuminga and have assured other contenders across the league that he is untouchable and will never be traded.
