SUMMARY
- The Philadelphia 76ers are monitoring Jimmy Butler's situation with the Heat.
- Butler might not want to play for the 76ers once again.
Could the Philadelphia 76ers potentially acquire Jimmy Butler this offseason? Most NBA fans will know that the 76ers were eliminated from the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs this season by Jalen Brunson and the Miami Heat. Since the team has struggled to establish itself as a legitimate title contender over the past few years, there is no denying that the franchise is looking to make some significant changes to start this season.
While some trade rumors have indicated that the 76ers could even potentially trade Joel Embiid, it is far more likely for the team to make some moves and continue to surround him with a reliable supporting cast. Since Butler has proven to be quite dependable during the playoffs in recent times, there is a good chance for the team to make this trade.
Jimmy Butler did not play for the Miami Heat in these playoffs due to injury
To those who might not be aware, the Heat were unable to make a deep postseason push this time and lost to the Boston Celtics in the first round of the playoffs. This was quite a one-sided series especially since Jimmy Butler did not step on the court for the Heat after sustaining an injury during the play-in tournament. Coincidentally, it occurred against the 76ers.

Jimmy just completed the first year of his 3 year contract with the Miami Heat and still has two seasons left under his current deal, Therefore, the 76ers will certainly have to give up a significant amount of assets in return for acquiring him. However, one should also wonder if Jimmy has any interest in playing for the 76ers given his history with the team.
Will Jimmy consider making a return to the Philadelphia 76ers?
Some fans might know that Jimmy Butler has spent one season of his career with the 76ers. While the team managed to make it to the second round of the playoffs, they ended up losing to Kawhi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors.
Butler soon left the team and it was made clear later that he did not leave on the best of terms. Since NBA players do not have the ability to control their destination when traded, unless they have a no-trade clause, Butler cannot stop the 76ers from making a trade for him. However, fans should ponder over his impact and effect on the team if he does not want to be there.
