SUMMARY
- The Magic push for Game 7 against an incredible win against Donovan Mitchell and the Cavaliers.
- Mitchell scored 50 points from the 94 that the Cavaliers had in the game.
The Cleveland Cavaliers lost a crucial game despite Donovan Mitchell erupting on offense, and fans are growing incredibly frustrated. The Orlando Magic copped a 96-103 win in another close matchup that could’ve been anyone’s game.
It was a terrible scene for Evan Mobley especially after he had an incredible Game 5. He finished with 3 points, 7 rebounds, 5 blocks, and a steal. The Cavaliers barely had any help from the bench offensively while Mitchell carried the entire weight of the team.
And they still couldn’t get it done. The Cavs look like they don’t want this series.

Fans reacted to Mitchell’s 50-point effort saying, “And they still couldn’t get it done. The Cavs look like they don’t want this series.” Another X user added, “He has zero help it’s sad.” Hopefully, the Cavaliers manage to flip things around in Game 7 which is the only series that has stretched out this far in the first round.
Donovan Mitchell makes no excuse after losing to the Magic
Unlike the Cavaliers, Paolo Banchero and his Orlando squad each had a role to play in their Game 6 win. Four of Orlando’s starters were in double-digits while three scored over 20 points. Franz Wagner was a spectacle on both sides of the floor finished with 26 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and a steal. Banchero scored a team-high 27 points while Jalen Suggs had 22 points.
Donovan Mitchell’s 50-point game was a masterclass but he gave all credit to the Magic was playing better than the Cavaliers in this game. He said, “I want to preface this, I want to give credit to Orlando. This is not an excuse, this isn’t. So please, when y’all [the media] say this make sure y’all put that in, and if y’all don’t, I’ll call you out. But the biggest thing is like we attack, we get to the paint, and 10 free throws to me is crazy.”
He added, “I think at the end of the day for a guy who drives like that and I’m not saying that’s the only reason why we lost. I had four turnovers, one at the end of the game.” The Cavaliers scored 66 points within the paint but barely drew fouls to save themselves from losing their lead. Mitchell pointed out how Darius Garland barely got fouled as well.
The 5x All-Star enters Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan’s airspace
Donovan Mitchell has been the best player on the Cavaliers’ squad by a mile. The 5x All-Star averaged 26.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 6.1 assists on 46.2% shooting from the field. In Game 6, Mitchell’s 50 points was the second-highest scoring night in Cleveland’s playoff history. He ranks second to LeBron James, who scored 51 points against the Golden State Warriors in the 2018 NBA Finals.

Mitchell was the only Cavaliers player to score in the fourth quarter while also recording 30 points within the paint. This is the most points scored by a guard within the paint since Kobe Bryant. The Cavaliers star also joined Allen Iverson for the most 50-point playoff games in NBA history with three. They rank third behind Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan.
