Victor Wembanyama made a surprising entry into the basketball scene. People were astonished by his physique and how he was able to play like a guard almost. The French native has a lot of talent for a 7″3-foot center. It is rare to find a player as dominant as he is on the floor with the ability to shoot, attack and defend at any given time. Only a few individuals like Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo are gifted.

Victor Wembanyama’s game was acknowledged by the King, LeBron James. The Los Angeles Lakers forward complimented Wemby for his work saying, “He’s for sure a generational talent and hopefully he continues to stay healthy as it’s most important for him.” James’ main concern for the European star comes from his experience with Anthony Davis and other centers he has played with in the past.

Similarly, fans also believe Victor won’t last long in the NBA calling him a “bust” before being drafted.

The only way Victor Wembanyama becomes a bust is if he can’t stay healthy. That kid is a real life created player. 🤯

New Daily Reminder: Very unpopular opinion: Victor Wembanyama WILL BE a bust 🔥

— ໊ (@PrimeTimeRURS) July 21, 2022

“This kid isn’t going to live up to the hype yall are putting on him,” said one fan. Another person was point-blank honest by saying, “Bust soon.” It is quite hard to determine where he will end up after being drafted. For his size, Victor will be prone to injuries. His body will require more exertion to move and playing among smaller athletes could increase the risk of freak accidents.

Is Victor Wembanyama projected to be the No.1 overall pick this year?

Victor Wembanyama will take part in the 2023 NBA Draft and is projected to be the No.1 overall pick as well. He had a breakout year with the Metropolitan 92 averaging 21.5 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists along with 2.4 blocks and 0.8 steals per game. Wemby also put up 82.8% from the free throw line, 47.5% from the field, and approximately of 30% from the field and these are quite good stats for someone as big as him.

Before this, he played for Nanterre 92 and LDLC ASVEL in France. He turned 19 years old in January which made him eligible for the draft on general conditions. The Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, and Detroit Pistons currently rank at the top in teams that can acquire him. Victor has often expressed his excitement to join the league and compete among the greats.

“There is no wrong team. I am not worried. There is no bad organization. I never tell myself I don’t like to go there,” he told ESPN. “The only thing I can tell you is I love winning, and I hate losing. I want to build something that eventually is going to be remembered,” he explained in preparing for his career in the NBA.

As mentioned earlier, Wembanyama can easily become one of the greatest players ever only if he remains healthy. Not every athlete his size has survived in the NBA as the league is far more physical and fast-paced than college or school basketball.
