- Draymond Green believed that Embiid and the 76ers would defeat Jalen Brunson and the Knicks.
- Draymond gives them no chance to win an NBA championship despite the Knicks' victory in their first round series
Draymond Green continues to show disrespect towards Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks despite their recent success. As most NBA fans should know, Draymond is a veteran NBA star who has spent his career with the Golden State Warriors. Now that the team’s season has come to an end, Green has a lot more free time on his hands to focus on his podcast and other activities.
During a recent episode of “The Draymond Green Show” he discussed Jalen Brunson and the Knicks. After all, the team had just come out victorious and defeated the Philadelphia 76ers in 6 games. While Draymond gave them their props, he stood on certain convictions and opined that the Knicks would not be successful. With that being said, let us take a closer look and find out more.
Draymond Green initially predicted that the Philadelphia 76ers would defeat the New York Knicks
Those who follow Draymond Green’s podcast will know that he initially supported the Philadelphia 76ers and expected them to defeat the New York Knicks in the first round of the playoffs. However, things did not go as Draymond had expected considering that the Knicks ended up taking a 3-1 lead on the 76ers and then eliminating them in 6 games.
While the Knicks are relatively inexperienced and unlikely to win a title, it is quite disrespectful to claim that they have absolutely no chance of doing so. Especially in the aftermath of the team defeating the 76ers, who were favored by Draymond to win their first-round matchup.
Green does not believe that Jalen Brunson can lead the Knicks to the ‘promised land’
One could make the argument that Jalen Brunson has been the best player in the league so far throughout these playoffs. After all, he has averaged more points and assists than Luka Doncic in the first round and has already recorded multiple 40-point games in order to carry the Knicks to victory over the 76ers.
Although Draymond revealed to have a solid amount of respect for Brunson and his squad, he criticized their style of play and claimed that the Knicks could not have much success since Jalen is too ball-dominant.
“I don’t hate the Knicks. However, I am honest and not delusional and a ball-dominant Jalen Brunson ain’t going to get you to the promised land I said. I didn’t say you weren’t going to win a first-round series. I didn’t even say you weren’t going to win a second-round series. Cuz if I’m honest, I think you guys should easily win the second-round series. I didn’t say that.”
Since Jalen Brunson plays the position of the point guard and needs the ball in his hands in order to be effective, Green’s take on his ball dominance does not hold much weight. Especially since Jalen also facilitates and sets up easy scoring opportunities for his teammates. In any case, fans are left wondering if the Knicks will be able to go all the way this season and inadvertently prove Draymond wrong once again.
