Team USA is arguably the toughest team to beat in the 2023 FIBA World Cup. The country has a rich history of success at the international level. In most cases, this should be enough to have rivals worried. This year, the Americans seem as strong as ever having gone through a great run of preparation games. They went 5-0 against Puerto Rico, Spain, Slovenia, Greece, and Germany.

Anthony Edwards is the man behind most of Team USA’s success and things seem fairly smooth sailing. Edwards ended the exhibition series scoring 34 points shooting 11-21 from the field against Germany. Tyrese Haliburton and Austin Reaves are the other two threats flying under the radar. Jaren Jackson Jr. is continuing his defensive outburst as well. Team USA also has Jalen Bruson, Brandon Ingram, Mikal Bridges, Bobby Portis, Cam Johnson, Walker Kessler, and Paolo Banchero on the roster.

This young team of impressive talent will be coached by Steve Kerr. Famously known as one of the NBA’s greatest coaches of all time, former coach of the year, and leader of the Golden State Warriors, Kerr brings a lot of success onto the table. Kerr is someone who is best known for his offensive schemes and pushing players past their limit. He has won multiple NBA titles and World level accolades as a player and coach.

Team USA’s Steve Kerr will be assisted by Erik Spoelstra, Ty Lue, and Gonzaga’s Mark Few

Team USA is lucky to have Steve Kerr as its head coach solely due to his expertise in playing under pressure and finding success out of it. Kerr has played with some of the greatest players of all time and has nine NBA titles under his belt, five as a player and four as a coach. In 2020, Steve was an assistant coach for Team USA as they won the gold medal in the Olympics. While Kerr leads the team, three other coaches will assist him with their impeccable knowledge.

Erik Spoelstra will also be part of the coaching team. He has had immense success with the Miami Heat over the years earning two titles as a coach while making two more NBA Finals appearances in the last four years. Spoelstra is famous for pushing players to their maximum potential and creating an environment for athletes to grow.

Backing up Spoelstra and Kerr will be Ty Lue. He replaced Monty Williams as assistant coach a few months ago but still comes to great use for Team USA. Lue has seen great success as a coach winning the NBA’s Coach of the Year in 2016 as well as a title with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Mark Few will be the fourth coach for Team USA. He has had a lot of success while coaching Gonzaga over the last 24 years. Gonzaga has had 14 top-ten finishes during his tenure.
