Drake is undoubtedly one of the biggest celebrities in the world right now. Over the years, he has showered the world of sports with his love and most notably the NBA. For several years, the hip-hop superstar has been a loyal supporter of the Toronto Raptors. He would often get into trouble for being excessively supportive while disrespecting other teams in the league.
He is a massive fan of the sport. He partnered with Ferris Rafauli, a famous interior designer in the United States, to build a massive indoor basketball court at his house. Drake also conducts pickup games and mini-leagues on his court. Another trait that the superstar carries along with him is his habit of placing bets on sporting events. His latest bet was placed on the Los Angeles Lakers winning against the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 2. Similarly, he also bet on the Miami Heat to win against the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 2 of their series as well. However, the $260 million net-worth rapper lost both bets as both teams lost. The amount placed on both teams is unknown but knowing Drake, each of those bets was probably worth thousands.
What is the “Drake Curse”?
Drake, the biggest celebrity gambler around has been making serious bets over the last few months to a year. But the rumor has it that every team or group he bets on loses their matches. Let us take into account his recent activities. The rapper recently bet on Jake Paul to win against Tommy Fury. Unfortunately, he ended up losing $400,000 after Fury became Jake’s first loss.
Shortly after, during the UFC 287 fight event, Drake bet on the veteran Jorge Masvidal to win against Gilbert Burns. It turned out to be one of his most embarrassing bets as Burns went the distance and won by unanimous decision. Masvidal also retired that night after his loss to Burns. The amount Drake bet was estimated at $200,000 and he lost all of it. He once bet on UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya but lost millions.

However, the rapper made a terrible decision to bet on these NBA games. The Heat is a weaker team when compared to the Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo happened to get injured in Game 1. This ultimately bestowed Miami the victory but Game 2 was too risky as Giannis was back on the court. Similarly, the Grizzlies have been more consistent than the Lakers this season. As expected, the Lakers had trouble maintaining their lead against Memphis.
