Last night The Los Angeles Clippers and the Sacramento Kings played a record-breaking game in the NBA. The game had everything, to make it a game to remember. The teams shattered some records on the way to end the night. Nonetheless, the Kings took the game to the Clippers, who were the better team for most of the night. Malik Monk put up a career-high on the night, to cap off their victory.
The Clippers and the Kings locked horns in the Western Conference for the second time this season. With the Kings soaring this season, Kawhi Leonard put up some performance to stop them. Nonetheless, he put up a 44-point performance for the Clippers, who were left short in the second OT. The last time when both teams scored 170+ points in a single game came 40 years earlier between the Detroit Pistons and the Denver Nuggets. The team put up a total of 370 points and had 3 OTs, which remains the highest-scoring game in the NBA. The Clippers and the Kings almost came close to breaking it, combining for 351 points. Other than last night no other teams in a game have been able to score 170+ points since then.
Another record that was equaled was, 3PM combined by both teams. The Clippers and Kings combined for 44 3PM in a single game, which equals the record. with 3 players having a 40+ point performance and 14 players registering in double figures. Monk put up a 45-point performance to register his career-high game last night. Russell Westbrook made his debut for city-side rivals with the Clippers after being traded recently.
The Los Angeles Clippers and the Sacramento Kings put on a thriller for the NBA fans
All in attendance at the Crypto.com Arena were in for a treat. A performance such as last night comes after 40 years, making it an absolute cracker of a night. The Kings and the Clippers locked horns in a heavily crowded West, however, both team’s spots in the West are not guaranteed. Hence, the game went down to 2 OTs which does not do justice to how the game was played. The game was an end-to-end encounter. Nonetheless, the Kings would fight it out, as they have done the entire season.
At the end of the 3rd quarter, the score was 117-110 in favor of the Clippers. However, the Kings matched the stride of their counterpart and won the game in double OT. The Kings being the second-best for the majority of the night didn’t let the Clippers run away with it. De’Aaron Fox and Malik Monk put up a huge performance to take the win against the Clippers.
