Jonathan David Good, aka Jon Moxley, is a well-known name in the world of pro wrestling. With that, it is to be noted that he is currently a part of the Tony Khan-led promotion, AEW. However, he was previously a part of WWE, where he was a part of ‘The Shield’ and fans knew him by the name of Dean Ambrose.
With that, while Jon Moxley is currently a part of AEW, speculations are going on about his possible return to WWE. Recently, on the February 12, 2024 episode of WWE RAW, Seth Rollins made an appearance during Cody Rhodes’ promo. The World Heavyweight Champion exchanged a few words with The American Nightmare.
Meanwhile, Rollins mentioned that when it’s about fighting Roman Reigns and The Rock, there’s one man who is suited to be Rhodes’ shield. With that, Seth mentioned that it was he himself. It now remains to be seen if Jon Moxley will have anything to say about the matter. Whatever the case, fans are super excited to see the former WWE star make his return to the largest wrestling promotion in the world.
When will Jon Moxley’s AEW contract expire?
Recently, fans have been speculating about the return of Dean Ambrose to WWE. With that, some of the fans have even speculated that the former star might make his return at the Grandest Stage of Them All. Meanwhile, some fans are eager to know about Moxley’s AEW contract.
Jon Moxley has signed a five-year contract extension with #AEW, and will remain with the company through 2027.

In that regard, it is to be noted that Moxley might not be making his return at WrestleMania 40. This is because he has already signed a multi-year contract with AEW, which will last until 2027. Thus, it seems that though Rollins recently made a shield reference on RAW, there is almost no possibility of Ambrose making his return to WWE.
Taking a look at the WWE run of Jon Moxley, fka Dean Ambrose
Jon Moxley previously stepped foot into the world of pro wrestling in 2004. Thereafter, he went on to perform in several wrestling promotions. However, moving ahead, he became a part of WWE in 2011 and was then given the name Dean Ambrose.
With that, he competed in WWE’s developmental territory, NXT. However, he later made his main roster debut in November 2012. Following this, he became a member of ‘The Shield’, which also consisted of Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. The trio thereafter participated in several feuds and gained a lot of popularity among the fans.
However, ‘The Shield” met its end in June 2014. Following that, Ambrose embarked on his singles run and gradually climbed the stairs to success. Not to mention, during his time with WWE, he bagged many championships to his name.
This includes winning the WWE Championship once, the WWE Intercontinental Championship three times, the WWE United States Championship once, the WWE RAW Tag Team Championship twice, and more. Thus, it seems Dean had a noteworthy run in the Triple H-led promotion.
Moving ahead to April 2019, his contract with WWE expired, and he left the Stamford-based promotion. Thereafter, he went on to join AEW and has been making a name for himself in the Tony Khan-led promotion since then.
With that, it remains to be seen if Ambrose will ever make his return to the largest wrestling promotion in the world. Meanwhile, it remains to be seen what AEW has in store for the fan-favorite Superstar. Whatever the case, his beloved fans will look forward to more updates about him and his professional and personal lives.
