Alexa Bliss needs no introduction when it comes to the world of professional wrestling. Having had a connection with the industry for almost a decade, Bliss has come a long way. However, there is one thing that many fans do not know about the former WWE Women’s Champion.
In the current WWE scenario, almost everyone knows Alexa Bliss as a full-fledged WWE superstar. But there was a time when Bliss served in the Stamford-based promotion as a ring announcer. In 2013, Alexis Cabrera was given the name Alexa Bliss and she served as an announcer for the black and golden brand of the company.
However, Alexa’s ring announcer career was short yet beneficial for her. “It was more of a test to see if I would freeze up. It went well,” she once told TV Insider. Within a few appearances, the former WWE Women’s Champion was then put on the wrestling card, looking at the potential that she carried as a professional wrestler.
Alexa Bliss had to give up on her job in the company following a “horrendous” memory. “I couldn’t remember the names and weights and where they were from. It was my second or third week there, it was not my forte,” she confessed. While things may have seemed very bleak to Bliss at that time, destiny had better plans for her.
Alexa Bliss and her journey in WWE
As mentioned earlier, Alexa Bliss became known to WWE fans as a ring announcer. However, soon she quit the role and trained herself to compete inside the WWE ring. Bliss made her in-ring debut in 2014 at NXT. Over the next two years, Alexa Bliss fought with almost all the women on the roster, including Bayley and Sasha Banks, before being drafted to the main roster in 2016.
Alexa’s shift from NXT to SmackDown was massive. While she couldn’t win any championships at the gold brand, she did on the main roster. Bliss became the champion for the first time in December 2016 and marked the beginning of a successful WWE run. Till date, Alexa has been a five-time champion (as per the latest update of this article).
Other than her three-time tag team reigns, her most promising storyline came when she was associated with Bray Wyatt, The Fiend. During the entire length of the storyline, Alexa Bliss aligned herself perfectly to match the dark and mysterious persona of Bray Wyatt.
Being such a strong in-ring personality, Bliss is a consistent contender and holder of various championships. In addition to this, she is a constant face in almost all the WWE PLEs. From coming as a ring announcer to being at the top of the women’s division, Alexa Bliss has proved that with hard work, everything can be achieved.
