Formula 1’s popularity has only grown throughout the years with fans flooding in to watch or get a glimpse of the drivers and the race. However, it is also no secret that it is one of the most dangerous sports of all time which has put many into serious accidents, but Romain Grosjean’s accident remains a never-ending topic.
While the 2021 season served a lot of action and unsure about the end of the season, it took a turn for the worst when Romain Grosjean had one of the worst crashes of all time and soon he became the man who walked out of the fire with a hand injury that almost killed him.
How many surgeries has Romain Grosjean had?
Romain Grosjean lost his seat in Haas after the 2021 season, especially after the big crash that almost cost his life. While the 2021 season saw the most battles come in between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, the French driver had his very own battles to deal with. After being declared as one of the most controversial seasons in F1, it also glossed over the terrifying incident that Grosjean was stuck in.
However, his end to the race came in 2021 at the Bahrain GP when the driver suddenly crashed into the Armco barrier. While the crash seemed to have startled everyone, soon all the drivers were asked to enter the pit as flames engulfed the Haas which had split in half because of the force.
All the teams and drivers waited and helplessly watched for 30 seconds as Grosjean seemed to have not moved even once as the complete distraught settled in them.

Grosjean underwent skin graft surgery on his left hand to completely heal from the burns and start racing again. Apart from his hands, the driver did not suffer any serious injuries and soon joined the IndyaCar series. His hand was said to recover completely after a year while he still had a few burns in November to heal from and saw a 90% recovery by then.
Nonetheless, in just a few seconds, Grosjean was seen standing up in the car and climbing out of the car to safety. After shaking off the burning sensation of his hands, the French driver sat in the medical car with tears down his face. The driver had the worst injury on his hands as they had burns all over them.

While Romain Grosjean lost his seat in F1 and soon made his way to Andretti to continue his love for racing and someday join F1 when he was prepared, the driver got another chance at life. However, it was during the crash that he did something many did not expect only for his kids.

After getting into one of the most brutal crashes of all time, Grosjean jumped out and started walking towards the medical car after refusing to lie down on a stretcher. However, when he was asked why he had been denied a good medical treatment, he had a rather heartfelt answer to it.
He talked about how he knew his kids were watching and therefore, he wanted his kids to know that he was completely okay. The driver denied needing any help and sat in the car patiently with burning hands.
