SUMMARY
- GTA 6 trailer was, rightfully, massive as it broke multiple records on and beyond YouTube.
- The hype for the game matched by the fantastic trailer and fans have taken it upon themselves to not let it pass.
Rockstar Games’ first-ever GTA 6 trailer took the internet by storm when it was force-launched on December 4, 2023. The game is set to launch in 2025, and there are no signs that the gaming community is getting over the trailer anytime soon over with it.
The hype around the trailer and the game continues to grow despite the gap between the full release. Ever since the official GTA 6 trailer was revealed, players have been decoding and spotting various easter eggs and hidden cues from the 90-second-long trailer.
Nonetheless, after hackers leaked the GTA 5 source code earlier this week, the modding community has largely benefitted from the availability of the raw code. Taking advantage, a modder and YouTuber has recreated the GTA 6 trailer but in GTA V scene to scene and fans are highly impressed.
YouTuber recreates GTA 6 trailer in GTA 5
The YouTuber who runs the channel named ‘RavenwestR1’ recreated the record-breaking GTA 6 trailer in the GTA 5 setting. In spite of both the games having different locations and elements, the YouTuber made use of several mod scripts to recreate the scenes in GTA 5 style.
RavenwestR1 posted the video on December 27, 2023, and the video quickly went viral. It garnered over 60k views within 12 hours. Each scene GTA 6 Trailer 1 has been recreated by the user, who then compiled the scene into the same duration as the original video, that is 90 seconds. To top it, the user used the same song, Love Is a Long Road by Tom Petty, that is used in GTA 6 Trailer 1.
They used random NPC models to represent the two GTA 6 protagonists, Lucia and Jason. However, the video featured other well-known Grand Theft Auto 5 characters namely Tanisha Clinton, Franklin Clinton, Lamar Davis, Solomon Richards, Michael De Santa, Trevor Philips, Wade Hebert, and Maude Eccles.
Naturally, the viewers were impressed by the creation and shared positive feedback on the video. Some viewers even called it the best recreation or “master of recreation.” Several users also noted that the recreated video highlights “how much of a leap in fidelity GTA 6 will be” as compared to GTA 5.
Which mods did the YouTuber use?
In the description of the video, the YouTuber mentioned that he made use of mods to recreate the trailer. “Finally here it is, GTA 6 Trailer recreated in GTA 5! As the intro suggests I spent way too much time on this video lmao, the chop shop update really hampers my progress because it crashes my game with all it’s mods, so I essentially have to reinstall the game again to get it working,” they wrote.

They then mentioned the list of mods used along with the links to the respective mod. They used the following mods:
- Simple Native Trainer by Sjaak327
- Extended Video Export by Nightingale
- Menyoo by MAFINS
- OpenIV by OpenIV Team
- Natural Vision Evolved
Within just over 24 hours, the video currently has over 280K views. Meanwhile, the GTA developer is going through a hard time since the source code of GTA 5 was leaked following the punishment of GTA 6 leaker Arion Kurtaj.
