Reportedly after six delays, Ubisoft Skull and Bones has finally got a release date, according to Insider Gaming. The report comes a month after Ubisoft officially announced the game.
Ubisoft announced in October that they were looking at a release window set for Q4 FY23-24. Additionally, Darryl Long, the future Managing Director, also confirmed that the game will be released before the fiscal year ends.
The game was first announced in 2017 and was being marketed as a tactical action game set in an open-world environment. The game allows players to take control of a customizable pirate ship. They can then choose to sail the Indian Ocean by themselves and set off on a single-player campaign. Alternatively, they can gather up to five other players to play in a player-versus-player gameplay mode in Disputed Waters.
Skull and Bones Pre-orders
Pre-orders for Skull and Bones are currently live on the Ubisoft Store, priced at $64. However, reports suggest that Ubisoft also wishes to release a Premium version of the game sometime later.
Although it’s too early to name the contents of the premium edition, as per earlier announcements, a few cosmetics will arrive. Besides, it’s expected that the players will also get to play the game with early access. The early access is expected to launch on February 13, 2024, as part of the early access.
So far, it is forecasted that the new Premium Edition could cost an additional $15-$20.
When is Skull and Bones releasing?
When the developers will announce the release date is still unknown. However, if sources are to be believed the new release date could be announced by the devs in the next few weeks. The timeline also hints at The Game Awards 2023 happening on December 7, 2023. Thus, fans could expect a release date announcement at The Game Awards 2023.
The game is reportedly under development currently under the codename ‘Project XA.’ The devs have been carrying out extensive playtests in the past few days. The latest playtest was reportedly held last week.
Interestingly, Skull and Bones was originally planned to be released in 2018 by Ubisoft. However, it was delayed approximately six times. The delays were so regular that at one point, it was reported that the game was being developed with a “new vision” in the minds of the developers at Ubisoft Singapore.
It is expected that Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones will be launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on February 16, 2024. Nonetheless, it is just a speculation or, rather, just a report. Thus, fans are advised to take it with a grain of salt.
