SUMMARY
- Aether is one of the biggest mods for Minecraft that provided players a realm opposite to the Nether to explore and mine in.
- Aether had been missing from the modern versions of Minecraft but has since now been reinstated.
As good news to Minecraft fans, the updated and remastered version of modern Minecraft is all set to support the Aether mod in the game. For those unaware, Aether is easily one of Minecraft’s most impressive historic mods. The mod adds a whole new dimension to the already exciting game.
The development team of Aether recently announced the release of the classic mod for modern versions by launching a trailer as a remembrance of classic Minecraft feature updates on YouTube.
What is the Aether Mod?
The Aether mod was launched on July 22, 2011, and was one of the largest Minecraft mods to be ever released. Aether offered a lofty, ethereal realm that was the brainchild of a team of modders who collaborated to create this mod. Some consider this mod to be the polar opposite of the Nether.
With the Aether mod, players could reach the dream-like land by building a Nether-portal-like structure. The only difference was that instead of using the infamous obsidian along flint and steel combo used in Nether, here players must use blocks of glowstone and a bucket of water.
Once players step through the portal, they are likely to find themselves in a dreamy yet hostile empire that is located far above the surface world. It offers such a magical experience that it boosts one of the world’s most popular crafting games much beyond the vanilla experience.
The Aether mod shows players floating islands, unique creatures, and valuable loot, all of which are inspired by the Greek mythology of the sky and heavens.
With the Aether mod’s introduction to the modern versions of the game, the mod’s development team has promised that it will include all the original Aether mod’s features including a lot of brand-new blocks as well as items from the angelic dimension in Minecraft. It will also feature four material tiers with their tools and weapons, an accessory system that allows players to utilize the loot found across the world, along three new dungeons to conquer. Notably, each of these dungeons will come with their own equipment and bosses to best.
How to install Aether Mod in Minecraft?
As announced by the development team the mod can be downloaded from Modrinth or Curseforge. Players can install the Aether mod in the modern versions of Minecraft by following the steps given below:
- Firstly, players must download the latest version of the Aether mod from its official website, i.e., CurseForge and Modrinth. Make sure that the version downloaded matches your Minecraft version and the Forge version. The mod file will have a ‘.jar’ extension.
- After the download is complete, players must run the Forge installer. Select the “Install client” option to make a new profile in the Minecraft launcher called “Forge.” Forge is a mod loader, that allows players to run multiple mods simultaneously.
- Next players must open their Minecraft launcher and choose the newly created “Forge” profile. Then click on “Edit” and then select the “Open Game Dir” option. This will open the folder where the Minecraft files are stored.
- Players must then locate the “mods” folder in the directory. If players are unable to find it, they can simply create a new folder called “mods.” To keep things more organized, players may also create subfolders within the “mods” folder to segregate the mods better.
- Finally, players must copy the Aether mod file and paste it into the “mods” folder they just located or created. Once it’s done, players can start enjoying the Aether mod!
Players are reminded that if they experience any lag or crashes while using or installing mods in Minecraft, they may have to adjust their video settings and assign more memory to Minecraft.
