One of the most well-liked free-to-play online shooters is Overwatch 2, which offers a wide selection of heroes and intense action. The latest season of Overwatch 2, Season 7, is set to be one of the last of the year, and it was just released for players.
With the recent changes made to characters like Sombra and the impending changes made to Roadhog, Blizzard is getting ready to introduce a brand-new tank hero for the new season. Blizzard has officially revealed that Mauga will be the next hero in Overwatch 2. This was after an announcement that was leaked on the Nintendo Switch eShop news channel.
Mauga’s powers and weaponry were showcased in an overview trailer that Blizzard released for the character during BlizzCon 2023. The new hero is built for close-quarters fighting and front-line defense, and he possesses pet chainguns.
The tank-class character Mauga made a cameo appearance in the 2019 Overwatch short story “What You Left Behind,” revealing herself to be Baptiste’s former friend. Mauga is from Samoa, which was recently mined by Blizzard for an Overwatch 2 Control map.
Mauga’s abilities in Overwatch 2
The game’s newest tank, Mauga, has incredible new abilities that players will be able to utilize. His abilities are listed below:
Chaingun Combo
Mauga carries two powerful chainguns that he can fire simultaneously or one at a time. His “Gunny,” his affectionately dubbed incendiary chaingun, lights opponents on fire when they take enough damage.
For maximum destruction, it can be followed with a critical blow from his Volatile Chaingun, often known as “Cha-Cha.” Mauga is a tanky threat because of his Berserker Passive ability, which grants him temporary health whenever he deals critical damage.
Overrun
With his charging ability Overrun, Mauga can breach enemy defenses and avoid being halted by crowd control techniques. He is a strong front-line player who can trample opponents and deliver a potent knockback.
Cardiac Overdrive
As the conflict heats up, Mauga engages both of his hearts by turning on Cardiac Overdrive. As a result, Mauga produces an aura that shields teammates from harm. It also permits him to heal while delivering damage, turning him into a useful tool on the battlefield.
Cage Fight (Ultimate Ability)
Mauga unleashes his close combat expertise with Cage Fight, his ultimate ability. In order to stop incoming damage or healing from the outside, this maneuver traps adjacent opponents inside a cylindrical fighting ring. A dramatic confrontation will result from the besieged people having to battle Mauga’s chainguns and limitless ammunition.
It appears that Blizzard intends to properly release Mauga in conjunction with the upcoming December 8 launch of Overwatch 2’s Season 8.
