Bethesda Game Studios’ The Elder Scrolls is a series of action role-playing games. The game is set on free-form gameplay in an open world. This series has sold more than 58 million copies globally. The Elder Scrolls 6 is Bethesda Game Studios’ next role-playing game that is scheduled in the pipeline after the launch of Starfield.
Elder Scrolls 5 came out in 2011 and has seen several re-releases over different consoles including VR. The game was praised for its gameplay and immersion and the hype around Elder Scrolls is only surpassed by GTA 6.
Recently, The Elder Scrolls 6 has been in the center of the limelight when in the FTC v. Microsoft case, the latter’s legal counsel submitted a document with all upcoming first-party Xbox games. The document showed the way Microsoft handled games after acquisition. The Elder Scrolls 6 was seen in the document with an “expected 2026 or later” release.

The document also confirmed that the game will not be on PlayStation. The document showed The Elder Scrolls 6 to target only Xbox consoles and PCs. This piece of news is devastating for PlayStation owners who were patiently waiting for the 6th title in the Elder Scrolls series.
Everything to know about The Elder Scrolls 6
There is no confirmation as to when the game will be released. Some news came to light in January 2022, when a Bethesda HR LinkedIn profile said that The Elder Scrolls 6 may be in the pre-production phase. Later in June 2022, Todd Howard the CEO of Bethesda confirmed this news.
In 2021, Todd Howard in an interview with The Telegraph said that Bethesda is using the same engine to build both Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 with some modifications for the latter.

The official teaser of the game released back in 2018, and apart from that much of the game remains to be a mystery. There has also been no official confirmation as to the location of the game. Despite this, there have been some rumors circulating about the game’s location after the official Elder Scroll X account posted a New Year message that featured a map of Skyrim, with “transcribe the past and map the future” written.

The post has three candles placed on the map. Fans immediately took to this as a hint for the game’s location. One candle can be seen placed on Skyrim, the second on a book holding down the map, and the third in Hammerfell. Since then fans have started to assume that the game will be located in Hammerfell as some of the locations of Hammerfell matches with that of the teaser trailer.
Todd Howard said in 2021 that Bethesda is still checking the technology for the game and some additions will be made to the Creation Engine 2 for the game. Therefore it is safe to say that The Elder Scrolls 6’s release is still a long way ahead.
