SUMMARY
- Microsoft's recent internal meeting had details about it leaked on the Internet.
- Many of the information points to either Xbox software coming to all devices or new kinds of Xbox based devices.
There were rumors in early February that Microsoft was planning a town hall meeting with its employees to discuss the company’s future. At the meeting, Microsoft officials would directly speak to employees regarding the current state of the company and its upcoming plans.
Soon after the meeting was held on February 15, 2024, reports have already shared details about what the meeting was all about. And from what was spoken at the meeting, it indicates that Microsoft has no plans of slowing down after its $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
Microsoft is planning more Xbox devices
As per a report by Inverse, Xbox president Sarah Bond reportedly told the company’s staff that “every screen is an Xbox”. The company is also expected to reveal its plans to publish some Xbox games on PlayStation and Nintendo platforms.
Earlier, there were also several reports suggesting Microsoft was planning to bring its Xbox-exclusive titles including Starfield to PlayStation. Apart from that Sarah also spoke about Xbox’s strategy of existing on multiple devices during the internal town hall meeting.

She also elaborated on the company’s vision to become the number one cross-platform gaming company according to sources. To illustrate this point, the employees were shown multiple images of 2024’s breakout hit Palworld across multiple screens, including tablets, TV screens, monitors, and handheld devices.
Reports claim that Microsoft’s staff was surprised at “seeing so much Palworld” shown, as jokes were made during the meeting about the possibility of an Xbox handheld device.
Rumors of upcoming Xbx devices have been in existence for some time now. Back in 2017, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer had stated that the company had “roughly designed an Xbox handheld” in the past. To add to it, recently, the CEO has been actively interacting with social media posts about handheld devices.
Phil also confirmed to his employees that there would be “future hardware” from Xbox. A leaked document last year hinted that an Xbox Series X/S refresh would be happening later in 2024. Besides a next-gen Xbox console was also on the cards for 2028. Talking about the leak, Spencer said the information was “old”, and that Xbox would share its official plans when they are ready.
Other announcements at Microsoft Town Hall?
Meanwhile, the Town Hall meeting also had other bits of information shared with the workforce. Phil also reportedly told the staff that another Call of Duty entry is likely to arrive in October 2024. Besides, he also addressed the recent layoffs at Microsoft. He reiterated that these cuts had been a hard decision.
So… a major day for the Xbox brand.

Notably, the town hall and the announcements to the staff were made ahead of Microsoft‘s business update, which is to be held on February 15, 2024. During the business update, Sarah, Phil, and Xbox lead Matt Booty are expected to share “updates on the Xbox business”.
Several fans are also expecting announcements about the release of Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, and Sea of Thieves being released on additional platforms.
