The internet was buzzing recently with news that the hacker responsible for Grand Theft Auto 6 had been sentenced to a medical jail. However, it appears that Rockstar Games’ issues are still ongoing. According to recent reports, GTA 5’s source code has been made public, potentially having an impact on the release of GTA 6, the franchise’s upcoming game.
A 100GB code breach occurred on Christmas Day, according to Insider Gaming. According to the website, files from a canceled Rockstar Games sequel called Bully 2 were also stolen, along with some Python code for the future Grand Theft Auto 6 and the source code for GTA 5. A 4.5 GB file that is allegedly the source code for Grand Theft Auto 5 is a part of this leak.

Surprisingly, the GTA 6 leaked footage and the Grand Theft Auto 5 source code were purportedly leaked last year. The GTA 5 source code was however kept secret until this point. This source code leak could have an impact on both present and future gamers of the series and presents a serious data loss for the developer.
GTA 5 becomes open source
For game developers, the worst horror comes from a source code leak. It indicates that all of the code is available for use and can be stolen or altered. A screenshot of the purported message from the leaker, which revealed their intention to expose the whole 200 GB of GTA 5 source code, was posted by @lmk_nathan42915.
Soon the guy who has the 200 GB file of the GTA 5 source code will release it on Telegram for everyone to download and see. My God, Rockstar is going to get a lot more fucked up soon! pic.twitter.com/QrNCiOsswe

An early glimpse at the GTA 5 map was made public by the leak, but the source code breach is much more significant as it makes it simpler to add cheats to GTA Online and Red Dead Online. More cheats and workarounds for the game can now be added by modders thanks to their access to the Red Engine’s architecture and operation.

Additionally, developers can modify or add to the current code to create their revenue stream from the effort, resources, and funds that Rockstar Games has invested in it.
One X, user @_Dyllie_ provided some fascinating information regarding this topic. Their investigation revealed that a group from the modding community purportedly purchased the Grand Theft Auto 5 source code for about USD 2000. Modders might try and attempt to develop story expansions for the game if all 200 GB of data becomes accessible to the people at large.
In addition to the full source code of Grand Theft Auto 5, other details have also been made public, including the Python code for GTA 6, all the files for the canceled Bully 2 game, and more. Multiple planned DLCs for GTA 5 by Rockstar Games were also disclosed via the leak.
