Naturally, the new leaks have taken the Grand Theft Auto community by storm. The game celebrated its 10-year anniversary this year. Ever since its launch in 2013, fans have been asking Rockstar Games to roll out new content for the single-player campaign for a long time.
However, the developers, over the years, have released a constant and steady stream of updates for the online multiplayer mode, which was released alongside GTA 5, but the latter often gets ignored. The leak has broken the hearts of many fans since the studio could have released eight new updates of fresh content for the game but ended up not doing it for some reason.
Why did Rockstar Games cancel GTA 5 DLC?
For the longest time, fans have been upset about the absence of downloadable content (DLC) for GTA 5. Back in 2017, members of the Rockstar Games team shared some information on this matter. They revealed that GTA Online’s immense success and profitability had a significant role in the cancellation of GTA 5’s DLC.
Reportedly, the resources and efforts devoted to GTA Online overpowered the development of single-player DLC. In addition to this, Rockstar Games announced that GTA 5’s storyline was so exhaustive and refined that they thought further DLC was unnecessary. Besides, the team was already busy developing and releasing next-gen versions of the game. The next-gen versions debuted a year after its original launch.

Reports also suggest although the DLCs were not released in full, some of them were turned into heists and other events in the online multiplayer mode. Also, some of the content was released for GTA Online under a different name. These include Agent Trevor into The Doomsday Heist, Prologue into North Yankton Expansion, and LibertyV into Liberty City in GTA 5.
Some sources also suggest that Rockstar Games was planning to launch one DLC for each protagonist followed by another one around Liberty City. However, all the plans were scrapped, and the details were revealed in the recent leak.
