Ever since Cyberpunk 2077 launched in 2020 on December 10, there have been numerous requests from players for game improvements. While players loved playing the RPG from CD Projekt Red, they believed a few changes could add a new dimension to the game.
Usually, other game developers would release a patch or an update to address the requests from gamers, within a few months. But CD Projekt Red took a different route. They are releasing their first update to Cyberpunk 2077 more than two and a half years later. Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty DLC releases on September 26, 2023, ending the years-long wait of the fans.
Naturally, it is expected to be the biggest update to the game, set to transform the overall gameplay experience. One of the most demanded features from Cyberpunk 2077 was the character-changing and building ability. With the new update, the developer has made sure to incorporate as many changes as they could, and fortunately, the character change is one of them.
Additionally, Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty makes the character building and respeccing less expensive and more extensive.
Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 character builder changes
The latest 2.0 update of Cyberpunk 2077 introduces significant changes to the game, especially in how perks and skills function. This update automatically resets the character’s skills and attributes to add new features while allowing for adjustments according to the player’s choices.
Almost all of the perks that were available in Cyberpunk 2077 have been overhauled in Update 2.0. This means that the returning payers will be faced with a completely different player build.
The developer introduced a Cyberpunk 2077 Build Planner, which is currently live on Cyberpunk’s website. The planner lets players create a new character ahead of the update’s release. It lets players experiment with potential builds and the new perks along with Phantom Liberty’s exclusively added Relic skill tree.
Players are given a total of 66 attribute points and 80 perk points which they can use to avail the skill trees, perks, and descriptions. They also get the ability to reset or refund spent points. The build planner allows players to decide their attributes in terms of body, reflexes, technical ability, cool, intelligence, and the Phantom Liberty exclusive Relic.
However, while building or respeccing their character in Phantom Liberty, players must remove any Cyberware obtained through the Technical Ability Skill Tree by visiting a Ripperdoc and paying a nominal fee. As players dig deeper into the new update, they can take inspiration from some of the best builds in the game like Bullet Time Ninja, Hack & Slash Netrunner, and Savage Slugger Solo. All these have been designed by the developers themselves.
