Now that Counter-Strike 2 has actually been released, players are becoming familiar with the Source 2 engine. The game was launched on September 27, 2023, which replaced Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on Steam. The game was released on PC.
Counter-Strike 2 is a multiplayer tactical first-person shooter, similar to earlier games in the series, where two teams compete to fulfill various tasks based on the game mode chosen.

Counter-Strike 2 just like other shooter games is best played on PC. This traditional arrangement is primarily due to the game’s mechanics, which call for quick reactions and accuracy aspects that are frequently easier to control with a mouse and keyboard combination.
After the launch of the game, most players are now curious as to if they can play Counter Strike 2 with a controller. Support for Counter-Strike 2 controllers might not be the most effective method of playing Valve’s competitive shooter, but it would allow those who like to shoot with a pad access to the game.
I’d love to see Counter-Strike 2 on consoles though with :
– mouse and keyboard support
– Crossplay ONLY between players on the same input (controllers vs controllers, MnK vs MnK)It’s an incredible achievement that this game started in 1999!@valvesoftware @Xbox @PlayStation https://t.co/B7hdYIln8E

While first-person shooters like this are frequently played with a mouse and keyboard, some people can make a controller work.
Counter-Strike 2 controller setup
Controllers are supported in Counter-Strike 2. But not every controller and Counter-Strike 2 get along. Both a PS5 DualSense and an Xbox gamepad along with the Steam controller are some to go for. The game can be played as normal with these major controllers.
However, a little bit of tech juggling is required while configuring the controller for playing Counter-Strike 2. To set up the controller to play Counter-Strike 2, the player must enable it in the game settings. The following step needs to be followed to enable it:
- The player first needs to launch the Counter-Strike 2 game.
- They then need to click on the gear wheel which will be on the left side of the screen. This is the settings menu.
- Next, they need to select Game on the top bar of the settings menu. They can locate this to the left of the search bar.
- They then need to find “Enable Developer Console (~)”. It will be in the fifth position from the top.
- They need to change the “Enable Developer Console (~)” to “Yes” from the default “No”.
The Developer Console will now open each time the player presses the tilde key (~) i.e. the key to the left of 1. The console will, however, turn off if they press the tilde key one more while it is turned on.
