SUMMARY
- The developers have yet to give an official launch date for the much-awaited Season 20.
- However, some of the changes for the new season have been leaked.
Since its February 2019 initial launch, Apex Legends will be celebrating its fifth anniversary in February 2024. The developers have also added 19 seasons to the game and a battle royale. Season 19 of the game is also about to come to a close, and players are eagerly waiting to see what Season 20 has in store for them.
However, much to players’ displeasure, the developers have yet to give an official launch date for the much-awaited Season 20. Although some estimates point toward a release window somewhat during the second week of February. Players need to wait for some more time to get some solid information, as this prediction is based on the battle pass’s in-game countdown.
The developers used to introduce New Legends with the launch of a new season. This trend has, however, changed in recent times, as a few of the seasons only made tweaks to existing legends instead of adding new ones. But this might change with this season given the fact that the game has seen a decline in its player base, and the developers might want to give something new to the fans.

Changes coming to shield swapping
Various rumors are suggesting that Apex Legends will do away with shield swapping in Season 20. This is set to bring major changes to the gameplay experience.
Moreover, the renowned Apex Legends leaker Osvaldatore claims that some other major changes are coming to the new season. According to him, armor will undergo significant alterations in the next season. Initially, every piece of armor will be entirely eliminated from ground loot.
Armor Update
– All armor removed from ground loot
– Deathboxes: (for example) if you have LV2 and you swap into LV3, 75 HP are healed while 25 HP will be temporary
– Legend Perks: when you upgrade your armor, you get to choose 1 out of 2 Perks to keep for the rest of the match pic.twitter.com/JP9isoNGYi

The player will also overheal their current armor rather than switching to a higher level if they swap out armor from a death box. Ultimately, a player will need to choose any one of the two Legend perks for the entire duration of the match when they enhance their armor.
