Tyson Fury taking on Francis Ngannou was one of the biggest fights of the year and one of the biggest spectacles in combat sports. Fortunately for fans, the fight delivered and then some, leading to a lot of talking points as well. Previously, the ‘Battle of the Baddest’ took place in Saudi Arabia. The lineal Heavyweight Champion of the world, Tyson Fury, took on the former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Ngannou. Although many expected the ‘Gypsy King’ to win the fight dominantly, he only managed to eke out a controversial split decision. As such, there has been a lot of talk about Fury potentially needing to set the record straight.
Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience #2063, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson also weighed in on the matter. “I think with Tyson, it just feels like, just in here (pointing to his heart), you know, it’s a fight that I need, just in terms of champion, but mentality. The champion that’s in here, the mana, I need to do that again (the rematch)”. Thus, according to The Rock and Joe Rogan, the fight needs to be revisited, especially due to the way it unfolded.
For those unaware, Francis Ngannou, the challenger, was not given a prayer. However, on the night, ‘The Predator‘ managed to shock the world by going toe to toe with arguably one of the best heavyweight boxers of all time. Not only did Ngannou knock down Fury in Round 3, but stayed in the fight to the end.

Following the controversial decision win for Fury, it was very evident that a lot of people were upset. Initially, many suggested that the British boxer was being ‘protected’ in order to keep his fight with Oleksandr Usyk intact. Moreover, seeing that Fury had taken a lot of damage, the fight has since been postponed to 2024.
Speaking about Francis Ngannou, Joe Rogan revealed how even Undisputed Welterweight Terence Crawford did not give him a chance. Not only that, Joe himself once spoke about how he wanted Fury to absolutely destroy Ngannou. According to the commentator, he wanted Fury to show why he was the best in the world. However, Rogan has since given the Former UFC Champion his flowers and has backed him to do well in a potential rematch.
Naturally, a combat sports enthusiast and former athlete like The Rock was inclined to agree with the podcaster. Thus, both men discussed what they felt should happen next. For the most part, Joe Rogan believes that Fury should beat Usyk and then revisit the Ngannou fight. Moreover, both Johnson and Rogan understand that the Saudis have the wealth and the ability to make it happen.
Thus, fight fans are united in their belief that the rematch should happen at some stage. For one, Ngannou’s stock is at an all-time high and Tyson Fury’s record still remains unblemished.
