Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz is set to take place on August 5, 2023. The boxing match has been in the making for a number of months now and recently held its first official press conference. Both Jake and Nate were on stage with famous MMA journalist Ariel Helwani monitoring the whole ordeal. Throughout the night, there were many times when things got quite colorful between them.

However, one of the biggest highlights of the night came when a reporter went toe to toe with Nate. The reporter identified himself as Derek from Betr Media. It is important to note that Jake is the owner of Betr Media. So technically, Derek is a Jake Paul employee. So what really happened between the two? During the Q&A session, Derek stood up to ask Nate a question regarding his elder brother Nick Diaz.
Derek asked, “My question is for Nate. Nate, I’m actually a boxer myself I’ve been trying to get into this undercard. I’m just wondering if you think I could fight your brother Nick? If he’s anything like you, I think I’d beat his f***ing a**.” The younger Diaz brother was visibly annoyed with the disrespectful question and added that it was not a bright idea to insult Diaz’s family members in front of his team.

Nate added, “Brother what’re you just gonna walk around the streets or some s**t? You know all my homeboys see you right now. That was stupid, huh?” The 37-year-old then asked Derek about his identity and further added, “Hey Derek Betr Media, stupid a** motherf***er. The f**k? You need to have your a** whopped.”
At that point, Jake Paul jumped into the conversation as well. Feeling bad about the question from his employee, The Problem Child said, “He works for my company, I’ll handle that later. I’ll fire him later. I’m sorry about that Nate. Derek shut up.”
Nate Diaz breaks his silence on altercation with Logan Paul lookalike
Former UFC superstar, Nate Diaz, is extremely loyal to his family members and his teammates. Hence, he got into a shouting match with former football player Chase DeMoor. DeMoor was in the crowd when Nate’s teammate Chris Avila was fighting at a Misfits boxing event in April. Reportedly, Chase DeMoor was badmouthing Chris, which ticked off Nate and he threw water bottles at Chase.

However, what happened later that night, landed Diaz in some serious trouble with the law. Outside of the arena that night, a huge brawl took place where Nate choked out a Logan Paul impersonator, Rodney Petersen. Due to falling on the concrete road after being unconscious, Peterson suffered a cut on the back of his head. It led to an arrest warrant being issued and Diaz later surrendered himself to the authorities in New Orleans.
Diaz, who is currently out on bail, did not even attend his teammate, Kron Gracie’s fight at UFC 288. At the press conference for Nate’s debut boxing match, Jake teased the former UFC fighter about the incident. Jake asked whether he mistook Rodney for the real Logan Paul.

In reply, a smiling Nate Diaz added, “Yeah, what? It is Logan. What are you talking about? You guys saw what happened to Logan (mimicking the gesture for a guillotine choke)? Shout out to Logam. He will be alright. You don’t wanna just hit people out there. It’s f***ing dangerous. You know what I’m saying? Given them a little nap.”
Judging by his comments, it seems like Nate Diaz choking out Rodney Petersen was purely a misunderstanding. He genuinely thought that Rodney was Logan. However, in a statement, Diaz’s legal team added that Rodney was a trained fighter and Diaz’s actions were the result of self-defense.
Paul vs Diaz will take place at 185 lbs
Regardless of what happens on the legal front, it seems like the fight is set to go on. The bout is important for both Nate’s and Jake’s respective careers. Jake, who has a pro-boxing record of 6-1, is coming off his first pro loss against Tommy Fury. Although he had a rematch clause, Jake chose to pursue a bout against Nate Diaz. If he does not manage to win this contest, Paul’s boxing career is pretty much as good as done.

Nate Diaz, on the other hand, is coming off a win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 279. While it will be his first pro-boxing bout, Nate has an MMA record of 21-13. Diaz is an experienced campaigner and he is pursuing a big money fight. Although Diaz has an interest in going back to the UFC, he may become a full-time celebrity boxer if the result goes in his favor. So who do you think wins in the bout that takes place at 185 lbs?
