Francis Ngannou made his spectacular boxing debut against WBC champion Tyson Fury. Ngannou defied the expectations and took the boxing legend to a razor-close decision. Although Francis lost the split decision, many fans believed that ‘The Predator’ was robbed. However, the boxing coach who believed in Francis does not think he beat Fury.
Legendary boxing coach Teddy Atlas posted a video on his YouTube channel breaking down the Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou fight. To everyone’s surprise, Atlas agreed with the judges’ decision. “My final score is 97-93 for Mr.Fury,” said Atlas. He gave the reasoning for this scorecard by saying that there were lots of posturing, feinting, and half-jabs from Fury.
Fans were shocked by this assessment, as Teddy Atlas was supporting Ngannou and even laid out a detailed case for ‘The Predator’ beating Tyson Fury. However, he never claimed that Francis Ngannou would win the fight, but he said that ‘The Predator has a fair chance of beating Fury.
However, Teddy Atlas went on to praise Ngannou, and he was very hopeful about his future. “It was an upset because even though his (Francis) hand wasn’t raised, he did the unexpected,” said Teddy. Furthermore, he believes that Francis has a great future in the world of boxing.
Teddy Atlas is not the only person to believe that Francis lost the match. According to former UFC heavyweight Daniel Cormier, it wasn’t a robbery. “I had the fight 95-94 for Tyson Fury,” said DC while breaking down the fight on his YouTube channel. “I’m not yelling robbery, I’m not saying Francis won,” said Cormier, confirming his stance on the fight.
