Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia is gaining much attention from boxing fans for several reasons, including Floyd Mayweather and Gervonta Davis. This past week, Garcia and Haney got into a bit of a verbal batter ahead of their hugely anticipated fight on April 20 inside Barclays Centre in New York after King Ryan reminded Devin Haney about his sparring session with current WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis.
According to Garcia, Floyd Mayweather showed him the sparring video between Devin Haney and Gervonta Davis, where Tank knocks Haney out “almost” cold.
“We’re good, we’re cool. I think he’s a little mad at me for saying some things that maybe he thought – he didn’t tell me to keep things as a secret, so I kind of just started talking sh*t like I’ve seen the video of Devin Haney getting his as* knocked out by Tank Davis… I’ve personally seen the video. Devin Haney is knocked out almost cold by ‘Tank’ Davis. I’ve seen it with my own eyes. Adrien Broner did hop in the ring.”
Poking fun at the current undisputed lightweight champion, Garcia’s brutal response to his relationship with Devin Haney’s former friend Floyd Mayweather on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani has undoubtedly left a dent.
Bill Haney gives a reality check to Floyd Mayweather
Devin Haney’s father, Bill Haney, did not take lightly to these comments and fired back at Mayweather for putting his son in a bad spotlight. He reminded Mayweather of his sparring session with a young Haney, dating before the Mayweather-McGregor fight.

In a recent interaction with the idea, Bill Haney said, “It ain’t going to work Floyd. He should’ve showed the sparring video of him and Devin while he’s showing all those sparring videos. And it was 6-0, it wasn’t close. It was like Floyd was looking in the mirror when I’m talking. It was before the Conor McGregor fight when he finally decided that he could no longer be in there boxing with no real fighters.”
“Devin was the one that snapped that. He knew that the torch had to be passed and he passed it to Devin. It’s the new era. It’s the Devin Haney era and that’s what it is.” He further added.
While the sparring incident did occur, the video of the Haney-Davis sparring session has not been made public. With a TKO win over Ryan Garcia and talks of Davis knocking out Haney doing rounds on the internet, Tank Tavis is coming across as the real winner in this match-up.
