Bill Goldberg is unquestionably one of the most admired and well-liked professional wrestlers of all time. Following an injury sustained during American football, Goldberg began his professional wrestling career. He made his name during his time in WCW, where he maintained an undefeated streak of 173-0. After his glorious WCW run, he came to WWE and conquered the industry like no other.
He made his WWE debut in 2003 after spearing The Rock on RAW after WrestleMania 19. Goldberg had huge rivalries and matches alongside The Rock, Brock Lesnar, and Triple H during this time. Known for his raw strength and power, Bill used his extreme physical abilities to rule inside the squared circle. After being away from the company for 12 years, Goldberg made his return in 2016.
Since his return in 2016, Goldberg has had a handful of matches in the WWE. Though his matches were not technically gifted, they portrayed his immense strength and showed how big of a draw he was. After giving stellar matches in his last run for the company, he always desired to have a proper retirement match. During Steve and Captain Evil: The Podcast, the 57-year-old discussed his plan.
He stated how Vince McMahon promised him to give his retirement match on his terms. But the promise wasn’t kept as he never got a retirement match on his terms. He stated, “I owe him everything until we went to Saudi Arabia and he asked me to put Roman Reigns over, and I had COVID.” Goldberg further stated his condition, “Here is the deal. I’ll do it if you give me a retirement match”.
Goldberg says Vince McMahon is a “piece of shit” for not giving him his retirement match as a return for putting over Roman Reigns in Saudi Arabia.

The Hall of Famer also called out McMahon for not giving him a retirement match despite putting over Roman Reigns. “I put myself in a horribly sh**ty situation to get what I wanted to but to satiate him and give him what he wanted. The problem is, he never held up his bargain. Vince is a piece of sh*t as far as I’m concerned,” stated Goldberg.
“Roman Reigns, I acknowledge you as my next victim!”

Goldberg has been one of the most explosive superstars in history, and that is why Vince used him from time to time. He was certainly a draw for the company, as he attracted a lot of fans with his presence. While he had achieved a lot of success in his initial years, he came back in 2016 and had monstrous pops for his appearances.
Goldberg had his last WWE match against Roman Reigns
Elimination Chamber 2022 saw two of the most lethal WWE Superstars face each other for the Universal Championship. Roman Reigns defended his Universal Championship against Goldberg at the event, which happened to be his last match for the company. The duo was scheduled to face each other at WrestleMania 36 in 2020. But the match got canceled after Roman got infected with COVID-19.
Their rivalry was the main attraction heading into the Elimination Chamber. Despite being old, Goldberg proved to be a threat to Reigns and looked in good shape as well. He started with his signature Spear and looked to dethrone the Tribal Chief. Unfortunately, The Hall of Famer ended up losing the match and was seen in pain after the end of the match.
While Goldberg always wanted to have a proper retirement match for himself, it seems impossible as of now. Only time will tell if he still has the same dedication and determination to defy the odds and compete one last time.
