Tommaso Ciampa is a guy who has been dominating the pro wrestling industry for about two decades now. From making his debut on the independent circuit in 2005 to making a mark in WWE through his NXT run, the 38-year-old has done remarkably well in the Stamford-based promotion.
Ciampa currently performs on RAW, but he’s still remembered for his work on the yellow brand, as he dominated the brand through his vicious style. Among all the moments he had in the developmental territory, one that is the favorite to many is when he imitated God of War’s Kratos.
This happened in October 2021, when NXT organized the Halloween Havoc episode. No one was expecting him to come out as the Spartan, and that’s why his coming out while resembling the iconic character took the audience’s excitement to an even higher level.
The 5-foot-11 did so well in the segment that a lot of people believed that he was a way better kratos than Dwayne Johnson and Dave Bautista ever could be. The reason why these comments seem quite true is the way the then-NXT Champion portrayed Spartan’s character.

The 38-year-old wore a full costume with shoulder armor, a leather loincloth, and hand wraps. His resemblance to Kratos was near perfection, and that’s why if The Rock and Bautista portray the character, it would be difficult for them to beat him. As the NXT star did very well, fans will remember it for a long time, and WWE also featured it in a special Top 10 video.
Tommaso Ciampa isn’t the only WWE performer who imitated Kratos
It’s true that Tommaso Ciampa did pretty well during his appearance as Kratos, but he isn’t the only WWE performer who imitated the Spartan. Just like the 5-foot-11 Monday Night RAW star, Karrion Kross also resembled the God of War character on the main roster.
The Doom Walker was still the NXT Champion when he made his debut on RAW, and donned a gladiator-inspired look. It had a lot of resemblance to the Spartan warrior, and a lot of people believed that it was his way of imitating the popular character.
Not just Cross; even Braun Strowman once showed how he would look if he portrayed God of War’s Kratos. The Monster Among Men cosplayed the iconic character for Halloween 2020. His portrayal of the figure received a lot of praise from fans of pro wrestling as well as video gaming lovers.
While all these stars did well in imitating the Spartan, not many can say that they did it as well as Tommaso. Will Dr. Thomas bring back the character of Kratos ever again? Nobody really knows, but if he does, it’ll really be spectacular to witness for the entire WWE universe.
