Rey Mysterio has had many notable rivalries in his fairly long career run. An excellent performer, Rey has showcased exemplary skills even beyond the WWE ring. A similar character trait was also found in Chavo Guerrero, his rival from 2007. The two stars have had numerous faceoffs inside and outside the WWE ring. In one such match, Chavo crossed all heights to attack Rey.
Recently on the Jaxxon Podcast, Chavo Guerrero Jr. recalled the incident involving the WWE Hall Of Famer. Chavo went back in time when he hung Rey Mysterio upside down. He even went ahead and attacked his knee multiple times. The extent of the injury was such that Rey had to go through a knee surgery.
However, the motive behind his antic was to keep Rey away from television so that he could take his time off for surgery. Despite having a heated on-screen angle with Rey Mysterio, Chavo decided to send flowers to an injured Rey. He called up Angie, Rey Mysterio’s wife, and asked for their address.
But Angie did not take his word in good spirits. “She was upset because, I was kind of you know, on TV, I was really really really mean to him,” revealed Chavo Guerrero. Angie had had enough of Chavo degrading the WWE Hall Of Famer on multiple occasions. In addition to this, the people’s opinions compelled Angie to form a negative image about Chavo.
The rivalry between Rey Mysterio and Chavo Guerrero
The iconic feud between Rey Mysterio and Chavo Guerrero has its roots in Rey’s relationship with Eddie Guerrero. Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero have been very close both on and off the screen, and Eddie’s death deeply impacted his friend. Over the years, the 49-year-old often mentioned Eddie in his words, and this wasn’t liked by Chavo.

Eddie Guerrero had been Chavo’s uncle, and he didn’t like Mysterio mentioned Eddie on multiple occasions. He took to X and wrote, “If @reymysterio is really mentioning the Guerrero name only in tribute [and not] to line his own pockets with cash, maybe he’ll donate some of that money to charity,or even better, how about to Eddie’s daughters. That will show myself &the fans that hes not prostituting the family name.” His comments stirred much controversy and started an angle between the two.
Pass some on to Eddie’s daughters then. I guess he’s only doing it for the money, dummy

Chavo had also sarcastically said that Dominik Mysterio was 100% Guerrero, which further hyped up the crowd for their rivalry. Soon, the two started their rivalry in the ring, and it worked wonders. On Vince McMahon’s decision, he decided to continue the story even further, gathering massive fan attention. However, their beef had been only to captivate the audience, subtly hidden behind a clever selection of words.
