Cody Rhodes is the talk of the wrestling world, and rightfully so. His return got WWE the most social media engagements over WrestleMania weekend. His match with Seth Rollins overshadowed other matches on the card by a country mile. But not even the defection of their rival promotion’s EVP can get Raw out of its recent ratings slump.

Cody Rhodes got Raw its highest rating of 2022 last week
The American Nightmare’s triumphant return to Monday Nights was a very different story. The Raw After WrestleMania 38 was WWE’s highest-rated show of 2022, drawing 2.1 million viewers, and a lot of that was up to Cody.

He opened the show with a fiery promo. It was actually the best opening to the show of the year so far, including the hilarious entrance botch.

But it looks like the charm has already worn off, as Raw experienced yet another ratings slump this week; and the numbers aren’t small either.
Cody Rhodes having his 1st match on Raw in 6 years was not enough
Monday Night Raw drew an average of 1.803 million viewers this week. This figure is down 14% from last week, which drew a total of 2.101 million views. WWE saw a plunge in the key 18-49 demographic as well, as Monday’s episode scored a 0.54 rating as opposed to last week’s 0.64 rating; a 13% drop.

On the bright side, Cody Rhodes continues to dominate WWE’s social media. His segments from this week’s episode of Raw already have nearly 2 million views, which is an admirable feat.

It must also be noted that his match with The Miz drew this week’s highest viewership numbers. Rhodes clashed with the A-Lister as Raw transitioned into its 2nd hour, drawing 1.94 million viewers, which was the show’s peak. This was also the 4th-most watched episode of Raw this year, so clearly, WWE is doing something right. The American Nightmare is the key to reviving their ratings dominance, so long as they continue booking him the way they have been so far.
