WWE’s 16-time World Champion John Cena is undoubtedly one of the most promising stars to have ever stepped inside the ring. With his physical as well as mental strength, he has won many matches. However, there is one regret he has about one of his matches against Dave Bautista, aka Batista.
Back in 2010, Batista and Cena were involved in a grave rivalry that lasted for over five months. Amidst many faceoffs, the two once got in the ring for a Last Man Standing match at Extreme Rules. Despite winning the match, John Cena has spoken up about the regret that he still has about the match.

The match was iconic not just for the audience but for the two stars as well. John Cena, the winner of the match, confessed, “Well, I can’t do anything to knock him down for 10 seconds.” Suddenly, he thought of the duct tapes that are used to tape the rope and thus planned to tape Batista up.
“I was super sweaty and the tape broke ten times, and what should have taken a quarter of the time ended up being extended and took a whole lot of time,” said John Cena. Almost 13 years later, Cena still holds regret for not pulling off the move as smoothly as he could have.
What does John Cena feel about his on-screen rival, Dave Bautista?
John Cena and Batista’s rivalry goes down in history as one of the greatest rivalries in WWE. The two shared the arena both in WWE as well as Hollywood. However, this doesn’t compel them to be harsh about each other beyond the storyline. In the aforementioned interview, Cena went ahead and lauded his opponent with words of praise.
John Cena spoke about the performance that the two always used to put up in the ring. “I think all of the hurdles he put in front of himself, learning about his perspective, his ability not to cave under those hurdles,” said the 16-time world champion. Vince McMahon helped Batista shine by motivating him to work even harder.
