Since making their WWE debut in 2010, The Usos have become one of the most accomplished tag teams in the history of the Stamford-based promotion. Both Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso have had each other’s backs throughout their careers, but their association came to an unexpected end at SummerSlam 2023.
This happened during the Tribal Combat match between Roman Reigns and Jey Uso, as Jimmy made a surprise appearance at the event to attack his own tag team partner. He helped The Tribal Chief to retain his title against Jey, thus starting a feud between the Uso brothers.
As Jimmy cost his brother the Undisputed Championship, which could have been the biggest victory in his pro wrestling career, their rivalry is going to be extremely personal. This feud will be one for the ages, and recent reports have revealed that Jimmy Uso vs. Jey Uso is planned to culminate at WrestleMania 40 in 2024.
According to WrestleVotes, a certain powerful member of the Triple-H-led promotion’s creative team believes that ‘Jimmy vs. Jey’ is probably a program that should culminate at WrestleMania 40. However, other members of the team feel that stretching the feud this long could end up reducing the massive buzz it carries.
Next year’s WrestleMania is still about 35 weeks away, and it feels like the majority will get the advantage, and the feud will probably culminate earlier than the Stamford-based promotion’s biggest event of 2024. It’ll be interesting to see if WWE can somehow manage to extend this match up to WrestleMania 40, as it will probably be one of the most personal encounters in the history of the event.
Will The Usos retire next year?
It’s been nearly 13 years since The Usos have been a prominent name in the professional wrestling industry, especially in the tag team division. They’ve had numerous title reigns in the Triple-H-led promotion and are also the longest-reigning tag champions in WWE history.
The Usos are arguably the best tag team of their generation, and they have been giving their all to the pro wrestling industry for over a decade but given the fact that they’re 37 years old, they may not have much time left in their careers. Many wonders if they will retire after their rumored WrestleMania match next year, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Although the Uso brothers are nearing their forties, they aren’t showing any signs of retiring. Both Jimmy and Jey are still in their best shape and gave spectacular performances in the Stamford-based promotion. According to reports, their WWE contract is going to expire somewhere in 2024, and even if they decide to quit the WWE, they’ll surely not retire from professional wrestling.
Looking at the way The Usos are currently the most prominent duo in the WWE, it seems that they’ll most probably renew their contracts when it expires next year. If they do so, we’re guaranteed to see them performing high-flying moves and taking professional wrestling to an even higher level.
