It’s so good to see that at least the WWE Universe hasn’t forgotten about its Prince. Finn Balor made his return to WWE-programming on the Feb 21, 2022 episode of Raw. After being out of action for about a month thanks to Austin Theory, Balor is looking to reclaim his position as a top talent in WWE and to prove that, the pulled double duty his first night back.
Finn Balor is one the best performers in WWE today
He’s the inaugural Universal Champion for a reason. Finn Balor won over the WWE Universe with his crisp performance style and cool leather jackets when he debuted in NXT in 2014. The Prince rose to the top of the food chain with relative ease, thanks to his inner Demon.
He managed to stay at the top for nearly an entire year before losing the NXT Championship to Samoa Joe. After becoming the first draft pick in the 2016 WWE Draft, Finn’s future status as a world champion and main event talent was all but guaranteed; until he dislocated his shoulder. Balor hasn’t won a world title on the main roster since relinquishing the Universe Championship a mere day after winning it. While booking decisions might go 50-50 for Finn, the guy can still go at a 120% in the ring.
His second run in NXT was a revelation. The Prince is the gimmick Finn Balor needed to succeed on the main roster, and it looks like WWE might actually pull the trigger on his success this time.
Finn Balor pulled double duty on Raw last night
If reports are to be believed, WWE is in panic mode. Several former WWE performers have rocked up on rival programming, and the company is trying to prevent more talent from crossing over. Perhaps that’s why we’re seeing Finn in such a prominent position again. Balor made his return to Raw as Tommaso Ciampa’s tag-team partner in his on-going rivalry with the Dirty Dawgs.
He has since stated that he plans to stick with The Blackheart till WrestleMania 38 passes by. He also answered Damien Priest’s call for a “former world champion” to challenge for his United States Championship. Being the first Universal Champion ever qualified Balor for the stipulation he had set.

That match will take place next week, as Raw emanates from Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. While Finn Balor has had a main roster run riddled with extreme highs and lows, we think that this could be the turning point for The Prince’s career. The pop he got last night is living proof of his popularity with the crowd. If they mess this up, we’re afraid nothing will be able to re-habilitate Finn Balor; or his underwhelming WWE run.
