WWE Superstar John Cena is a record 16-time World Champion in WWE, which is the joint-most in the company’s history. However, as his in-ring career was nearing its end, John took a part-time role in WWE and turned his attention toward Hollywood.
The Cenation leader’s Hollywood transition has worked pretty well, as the Megastar has achieved similar success in his acting career. John’s movies have made great box-office collections, and his performances in “The Suicide Squad” and “Bumblebee” have been well appreciated.
After giving some blockbusters throughout his Hollywood career, John Cena is now going to appear in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming movie “Barbie.” This is the first-ever live-action Barbie film, which is based on the Barbie fashion dolls by Mattel.
With just over a week left for the movie’s release by Warner Bros. Pictures, the excitement about Cena’s role in the movie has been huge. John isn’t the main lead in the movie, as he will be involved in a romantic angle with Dua Lipa.
The buzz around “Barbie” has been pretty massive, and the entire cast is excited for the movie’s release on July 21st. Although everyone’s pretty excited about Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie,” Oscar-nominated Director Christopher Nolan is said to be unhappy with “Barbie.”
Why is Christopher Nolan unhappy with John Cena’s $100 Million Movie?
As reported by Insider, Christopher Nolan is unhappy with John Cena’s $100 Million movie due to the same release date as his upcoming movie Oppenheimer. This movie is going to be Nolan’s first big film since he released Tenet. The movie will star Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer, and it’s based on J. Robert Oppenheimer’s creation of the atomic bomb.
Barbie and Oppenheimer are said to be this summer’s biggest films, and both of them are set to premiere on July 21st. Nolan is said to be quite unhappy about this clash because mid-July is even said to be called “Nolan’s weekend” in the industry. He has already premiered some blockbuster movies during this period.
The reports further added that Nolan even attempted to convince Warner Bros. Pictures to move the “Barbie” premiere, but they refused to do so. This is probably the biggest reason Nolan is quite unhappy with John Cena’s $100 Million movie.
It will be interesting to see how things will unfold when two of this summer’s biggest films premiere later this month. Will this entire same-date controversy work in favor of the movies, or will they have to suffer losses due to this?
