For the Mets fans, this offseason is going to be quite exciting and vigorous. Many prominent players are most likely to make the move, including MLB prodigy Shohei Ohtani.
Earlier this year, the news that Shohei Ohtani was soon to be a free agent shocked the Angels fans. As it turns out, the news is mostly likely to be true, as Shohei Ohtani might be playing elsewhere in 2024. As counted among the biggest stars of MLB, Ohtani is likely to land a contract worth over $500 million in the history of MLB.
It’s quite clear that the Los Angeles Angels two-way superstar might not be returning to the team, which makes his off-season decision extremely important. Ohtani might land with the New York Mets, as he has been associated with them on various occasions.
According to the report by Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi, “The biggest prize, of course, is Shohei Ohtani, and some industry chatter in recent weeks suggested he’d be more open to an East Coast club this time around, had taken notice of the Blue Jays’ player-development resources, and that the idea of adding a third country, Canada, to his prime fanbase carried some appeal for him”.

Shi Danidi shares updates about Shohei Ohtani going into the East Coast club, which is good news for the fans of the New York Mets. Although it’s still unsure what the MLB prodigy will decide this off-season. But considering that the Mets are open to spending as much money this offseason, Ohtani is very likely to join them. He might not be able to pitch for half of 2024, but he would join as the club’s everyday designated hitter.
Is Shohei Ohtani’s tenure with the Los Angeles Angels a failure?
As of now, the two-way superstar remains with the Angels, just on the papers. Ohtani recently cleared out his locker at the Angels after being placed on the 15-day injured list and being ruled out for the remainder of the season.
As the World Series ends, the MLB prodigy will officially become a free agent. And next year, Ohtani will be playing with a different team, most likely the Mets.

Many think Ohtani’s time spent with the Angels has been a failure, as the player did not play a single play-off in six years. He couldn’t even play in any season where the team completed a record of .500 or more.
On the contrary, Shohei Ohtani started with the MLB to become the world’s No. 1 player, and as he achieved that, it’s because of the Angels. Despite having a dysfunctional system and an unprecedented three-year stretch with the Angels, Ohtani went from a country boy to one of the best hitters as well as the top pitcher in the majors.
