UFC returns to Sao Paulo this weekend, and fans are up for a treat! Yet another card with some exciting fights and upcoming talents, this one is not to be slept on. Live out of the Ginasio Do Ibirapuera, on November 5, it will be a night to remember for the Brazilian fans!
Headlining the show we have Derrick Lewis up against Jailton Almeida. Previously, Curtis Blaydes was meant to be in the headliner against Almeida but decided to pull out after injury concerns. As a result, ‘The Black Beast’ decided to step in and save the show. Taking on a surging contender like Jailton, there is a lot of risk for Lewis as he is slowly nearing the end of his tenure.
As for the co-main event, up-and-coming prospect Gabriel Bonfim takes on the veteran Nicholas Dalby. Whilst Bonfim secured two back-to-back wins against Trevin Giles and Mounir Lazzez, Dalby won his last three as well. Moreover, UFC Sao Paulo will also have Rodrigo Nascimento vs Don’Tale Mayes, Caio Borralho vs Abus Magomedov, and Rodolfo Vieira vs Armen Petrosyan.
Which songs will Derrick Lewis and Jailton Almeida use for UFC Sao Paulo?
For his fight against Tai Tuivasa at UFC 271, Derrick Lewis walked out to the song “Tops Drop” by Fat Pat. Moreover, he continued the same walkout song for his fights against Sergei Pavlovich, Serghei Spivac, and Marcos Rogerio de Lima. As such, it is expected that ‘The Black Beast’ will continue the trend when he takes on Jailton Almeida next.
For his first fight in the UFC, Jailton took on Danilo Marques. On the night, the Brazilian walked out to “Love Funk” by MC Lipi and DJ Guh. With a KO/TKO win, Almeida announced himself on the scene and then went on to beat Parker Porter and Anton Turkalj. Having moved back and forth from light heavyweight and heavyweight, the Brazilian finally made up his mind to stick at the latter.
Thus he would then go on to fight Shamil Abdurakhimov. On the night, ‘Malhadinho’ walked out to “Vencedor” by Thiaguinho and secured yet another dominant KO/TKO victory. For his most recent fight against Jarzinho Rozenstruik, Almeida made the walk to, “RINGUE DA VIDA” by MC Cabelinho. Here, he once again secured another submission victory, his third in 5 fights.
What song will Gabriel Bonfim walk out to?
Two up-and-coming ‘Contender Series’ prospects, the Bonfim brothers had a lot of hype coming into the UFC. Being nearly identical to each other, there was naturally a lot of interest to see how the two got on. As such, the brothers did not disappoint when they made their debut at UFC 283.
As for Ismael, he marked an electric debut, knocking out Terrance McKinney in early Round 2. On the night, he had made his walk to “Worship Home” by Gabriel Guedes. Unfortunately, he would end up losing his next fight to Benoit Saint-Denis by submission. On that occasion, ‘Marreta’ had walked out to “Chegou o Tempo” by Leandro Borges. Unfortunately his bout against Vinc Pichel at UFC Sao Paulo was canceled at the last moment
As for the younger brother Gabriel, he fights in the welterweight division. As for his debut fight against Mounir Lazzez, Gabriel made his walk to “Ruja O Leao/Que Se Abram Os Ceus” by Isaias Saad and Nivea Soares. Unlike his brother, ‘Marretinha’ had his next fight at UFC 291, where he beat Trevin Giles, once again by way of submission. This time, he had made his walk to “Ate Que O Senhor Venha” by Davi Fernandes, Kaleb e Josh.
What songs will Caio Borralho and Abus Magomedov walk out to?
One of the more sought-after matchups on the card is Caio Borralho taking on Abus Magomedov. Initially, Borralho was meant to take on Nursulton Ruziboev. Unfortunately, Ruziboev had to withdraw, leaving Abus Magomedov to step in instead. Despite both fighters being relatively new on the scene, they have managed to garner a lot of attention.
As for Borralho, a Contender Series graduate, he secured his debut victory against Gadzhi Omargadzhiev. On that night, he walked out to “Ultimo Dias” by Kiara Rocks. For his next fight against Armen Petrosyan, Borralho stuck with the same tune. Notably, the Brazilian has walked out to the same song for his latest win against Michal Oleksiejczuk as well. Thus, it is expected that the ‘Natural’ will continue the trend.
As for his opponent, the imposing Abus Magomedov, he has also followed the trend of using the same song for his walkouts. In his debut at UFC Paris, Abus finished Dustin Stoltzfus by way of KO/TKO. Unfortunately, for his second fight, he was put up against middleweight mainstay and now champion Sean Strickland. On both occasions, the German fighter made his walk to the Octagon to “Gangsta’s Paradise” by Coolio.
