Israel Adesanya is one of the UFC’s biggest stars right now. A world champion and a bonafide superstar, he is used to having his name in the headlines. One of the main headlines around Izzy this year happened to be about his legal battles with ex-girlfriend Charlotte Powdrell.
Previously, Izzy was in high spirits following his victory over Alex Pereira at UFC 287. Having become a two-time world champion, Adesanya finally took time to address some important issues. Taking to Instagram, Israel posted a screenshot of an email that he had sent to his ex-girlfriend, Charlotte Powdrell. Despite their breakup in early 2020, it appeared as though there were issues behind the scenes.
Charlotte Powdrell is the estranged girlfriend of New Zealander-Nigerian mixed martial artist, Israel Adesanya.

In the email, which was sent to Powdrell a while back, Izzy had some damning things to write about his former partner. As such, Adesanya accused his former partner of selling information about him and being financially irresponsible. Further, the email revealed that Powdrell was allegedly seeking half of Israel’s fortunes. In the end, Izzy signed things off writing, “This will be the last time you are hearing from me. My lawyers will be in touch.”
Thus, the situation echoed a similar theme to PSG star and full-back Achraf Hakimi and his divorce case with model Hiba Abouk. However, the interesting thing in this scenario was that Adesanya and Powdrell were never married, nor did they have any kids together. Despite this, Adesanya’s ex-girlfriend believed that she was owed half his $10 million net worth because they “dated for too long”.
What has Israel Adesanya said about his lawsuit?
Having threatened to lawyer up and take the matter to court, it seemed as though Adesanya was prepared for the upcoming legal battle. With the email dated 18 December 2021, it was clear that the matter was boiling for quite some time. Moreover, there were numerous reports circulating that Powdrell had in fact filed a lawsuit against the middleweight world champion.
Notably, this was followed by a period of silence from the champ, who would rarely touch upon his ex-girlfriend and the situation. Thus, many assumed that Izzy was likely handling the situation behind closed doors. Recently, Adesanya was in attendance for UFC 290, presumably to watch Robert Whittaker vs. Dricus du Plessis. Following their fight, Izzy also stepped inside the Octagon to further his rivalry with du Plessis.
During the event and upon his arrival at the T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas, Nevada, many noticed something interesting with his attire. On the occasion, Izzy could be seen wearing a black t-shirt that read, “He is not your bank.” Clearly, the message was a call back to his feud with Charlotte and fans were able to gather as much.
With that said, the issue appears to be an ongoing one. Thus, with his documentary, ‘Stylebender’ set to release later this month, fans are hoping to know more about his lawsuit. Further, fans believe that Izzy will likely share an update on the matter, after his upcoming fight at UFC 293.
