The unification bout for the heavyweight championship is around the corner and the whole MMA community is looking forward to the potentially best heavyweight title fight. In the meantime time, Francis Ngannou has shared his approach to the fight and how is preparing himself for it.
Recently, Francis Ngannou gave an interview to “MMA junkie”. The interviewer asked if preparing for Gane is challenging since he is currently undefeated and for which not many of his fights are available where Ngannou can watch him bring exposed. To which Ngannou answered:
“No, an undefeated opponent does not mean anything. I think undefeated just means lack of experience at some point. Losing a fight is a learning process as well. So, if you haven’t gotten there you can’t understand something. I have fought undefeated fighters before, so he is not my first opponent. What are you defeated or undefeated when you get in the cage? It’s just you and your opponent.”

According to Francis, losses help a fighter to get better. One excellent example of the same would be Ngannou himself. After his loss against Stipe Miocic, he grew a lot as a fighter. His footwork got a lot better plus his takedown defense improved.

Ngannou also talked about Gane’s game plan against him. He predicted that the Bon Gamin has nowhere else to go except jumping around and waiting for a decision. Francis stated:
“He has nowhere else to go. He has nothing else to do instead of expecting to jump around and waiting for the decision. I am sure he is like ahh we are gonna take him to the long run. That’s can be his only prediction which is contrary to my prediction is knocking him down”
Francis’s game plan is to go for the kill. Now, it will be interesting to see what Ciryl Gane brings to the cage. Though he revealed that he would focus more on what he is better at, he must be cautious of Ngannou’s killing intent.
