Tony Ferguson has gone all guns blazing against former interim Champion Dustin Poirier. After Khabib Nurmagomedov teased Tony Ferguson vs Dustin Poirier for the UFC 254, it was speculated that UFC is close to finalizing the deal between both the fighters. However, Dustin Poirier came out in public and opened up on the negotiation disputes with the UFC. The #PayPoirier got trending, with Tony Ferguson urging UFC President Dana White to “pay the man.” Soon after, reports emerged that Poirier was offered former two-time Bellator Lightweight Champion Michael Chandler, however, Poirier declined the fight citing negotiations dispute yet again. However, ESPN journalist Ariel Helwani noted that the move from Poirier to reject the Chandler offer was partly in respect for Ferguson who vouched for him to get better pay. Both the fighter accepted the fight, with Poirier teasing “blood” if and when they meet inside the octagon.

Amidst all this, former dual Champion Conor McGregor called out Dustin Poirier for an exhibition MMA bout to raise awareness for charity. McGregor vowed to donate $500,000 to Poirier’s The Good Fight Foundation and agreed to take care of Poirier’s travel expenses for the trip. Poirier at once agreed on the offer, with Conor McGregor dropping a poster the same day. Soon after Dana White revealed that he has offered a fight to both the fighters inside the UFC. With Poirier accepting the bout on the same day, McGregor confirmed with a recent tweet that he has confirmed the fight and is waiting to listen back from the UFC.

Tony Ferguson brands Conor McGregor an “International Terrorist”
In a recent interview given to ESPN, Tony Ferguson expressed his frustration regarding the entire situation and demanded more respect for his decision to step inside the octagon during the pandemic when there was no entertainment for the people stuck at home. Ferguson also rained down on UFC President Dana White and demanded better pay going forward. Earlier today, Dustin Poirier put across a message to McGregor. The former dual Champion was quick to reply and confirmed that he will fight Poirier should the UFC hold the fight in 2020. McGregor stated that he is ready to main-event UFC 255 or UFC 256 with both the PPVs without a main-event.

Tony Ferguson has also expressed his interest at main-eventing the November or December card and it will be interesting to see where he goes forward from here in his UFC career after losing to Justin Gaethje at UFC 249 and missing out on a title opportunity after raking up a 13 fight win streak at the division.
