Dustin Poirier sent heartbreaking news to the fans recently when he announced that he won’t be fighting Tony Ferguson at UFC 254 after failing to come to terms with the UFC. Poirier stated that he is a prizefighter and the price needs to be right for him to take on Tony Ferguson in the co-main event of UFC 254. Past weekend, soon after the conclusion of UFC Vegas 10, Dana White announced that he is not looking at salvaging the match-up and are looking at a different opponent for Dustin Poirier.
Ben Askren even went on to called Poirier “dumb” for not taking the fight against Ferguson. However, fighter’s pay is a serious factor and as for fight fans, we are bound to respect a fighter’s decision to take the fight and otherwise.
