Who is better striker – Israel Adesanya or Paulo Costa?
Paulo Costa mentioned UFC stats which clearly shows Costa being a more superior striker than Adesanya in terms of striking accuracy. Costa also has more volume with .43 significant strikes landed per minute compared to 3.96 from Israel Adesanya. According to the stats posted from Costa which approves UFC stats on the official website, no fighter has ever attempted a takedown inside the octagon. It could play a crucial role in the upcoming fight, with Henry Cejudo flying all the way to Brazil to help Paulo Costa.

Costa outmatched Adesanya with a solid 57% striking accuracy. Meanwhile, Adesanya also stands at an impressive 48% striking accuracy. While Adesanya is a dominant counter puncher who likes to pressure opponents at times, Paulo Costa relies on his knockout power and volume punching. However, a case can be made for Adesanya if we talk about defending his figures against Costa here. Adesanya has fought more number of opponents, having fone multiple 3 rounds and a five-round fight inside the UFC octagon. As for Costa, he has numerous first-round stoppage victories against the likes of Uriah Hall and Johny Hendricks, having gone three rounds only once in a slugfest against former title contender Yoel Romero.

Israel Adesanya takes on Paulo Costa later this month in the main event of UFC 253. The fight will mark Adesanya’s second title defense after the unanimous decision win over Yoel Romero back in March. Paulo Costa is coming off an incredible victory over Romero as well, dating back to UFC 241. Costa was out due to injury, and it will be interesting to see him return after more than a year away from the octagon.
