Nate Diaz does not seem so happy at McGregor’s recent announcement. Not so long ago, Conor McGregor announced that he will be fighting Manny Pacquiao in a boxing match next. McGregor has been away from the octagon since his emphatic victory over Donald Cerrone at UFC 246.
Since then there have been a lot of speculations on the next opponent for Conor McGregor. And Nate Diaz was a potential opponent for McGregor as well.
Conor and Nate have one of the biggest rivalries in UFC ever. The first two fights between them were two of the biggest fights ever. And the fans have been eagerly waiting for a trilogy between the two.
With Conor McGregor not having a possible fight scheduled for a long time fans really believed that it would open up the opportunity for UFC to make Diaz vs McGregor 3.
But, Nate Diaz is probably going to fight Jorge Masvidal in a BMF rematch. And Conor McGregor is going to fight Manny Pacquiao in a historic battle.
After McGregor made the announcement, Diaz sent a cryptic message. Diaz stated:
I be out soon
— Nathan Diaz (@NateDiaz209) September 25, 2020
This can mean Diaz is not happy with the fact that Conor is fighting Pacquiao and UFC was not able to make the trilogy fight. This can even mean that he is teasing his UFC return. Or this can even mean that he is teasing his way out of the fight business.
Does Nate Diaz vs Jorge Masvidal rematch make sense?
The fight between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz is surely going to be a fun fight to watch. However, the rematch does not make a lot of sense.
Jorge Masvidal should fight Colby Covington next after his incredible performance against Tyron Woodley. They are two of the top ranked welterweights in UFC and they have bad blood. The winner of that fight can go on to fight the winner of Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns.
On the other hand, Nate Diaz needs a win. But he is one of the biggest stars in UFC. And it’s unlikely that he is going to fight a title contender in the welterweight division next, which explains UFC going ahead with this BMF rematch.
However, the rematch is not going to end in favor of Nate Diaz as well. With a proper training camp, Diaz might get more success compared to the first fight. But, Jorge Masvidal is likely going to outstrike Nate Diaz in the rematch.
