In a surprising turn of events, famed MMA trainer Javier Mendez was spotted with the former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Mendez posted about his interaction with Dhoni and current Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant on Instagram. He wrote about the various things he learned about the sport of cricket from the two experienced international players.
Mendez, who has coached the likes of Khabib Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev, met Dhoni and Pant in Dubai. In a group picture posted by Mendez, he was joined by powerlifter Vladimir Shmondenko and his trainer Steven Lukatsky, among others.

According to the caption, Mendez had very little knowledge of the sport. Dhoni and Pant gave him several insights into the most popular sport in India. MS Dhoni is one of the most successful Indian team captains. He is very highly respected all over the country. India is also home to many MMA fans. This collaboration between one of the most highly respected MMA coaches and Dhoni was loved by many fans.

Later, Mendez trained BJ Penn, Cain Velasquez, Luke Rockhold, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Islam Makhachev (current UFC Lightweight champion), among other former UFC champions.
