Most fans are aware of the former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub’s friendship with UFC commentator, Joe Rogan. The former fighter frequently appears as a guest on the Joe Rogan Experience. Famously, on the Fighter and the Kid podcast, Joe got very honest with Schaub about his MMA skills, asking Brendan to retire. This moment, though controversial, showed how deep the bond between the two ran.
And even after that awkward moment, the two remain friends. Moreover, Schaub regularly turns up to the fight companion Rogan puts out for UFC events. However, fans noticed a moment on the JRE podcast where the former Fear Factor host seemed to turn on his friend. Fans spotted this in quite an old episode of the podcast, featuring Will Harris, the man behind, the “Anatomy Of a Fighter”.
The two were discussing Dana White and how going against him turns disastrous for most. While attempting to convince Joe, Harris brought up the example of Brendan Schaub and Rogan immediately shut him down. Rogan said, “It’s so dumb. I didn’t talk to him [Schaub] about that. He’s wrong about the theory. Look Brendan’s my boy but he needs a handler. He needs someone like me around all the time.”
Although this seemed to be a case of the former Fear Factor host looking out for his friend and stopping him from making unnecessary enemies. Fans on the internet disagreed. They accused Joe of being a company man and siding with Dana. And in doing so, they claimed that Joe abandoned his longtime friend. However, this is not the first time Joe has been harsh with Schaub.
Joe Rogan once called Brendan Schaub the “most hated man on the internet”
As established before, Joe and Brendan are very close. And this closeness entails a lot of banter and at times, cruel humor. Sadly for him, Brendan Schaub is more often than not on the receiving end of the joke. And on the episode of the JRE with Whitney Cummings, an episode Brendan wasn’t even involved in, he was once again the butt of the joke.
Cummings brought up the Netflix documentary, “The Most Hated Man on the Internet”. The documentary chronicles the story of Hunter Moore, a man who ran an illegal, pornographic website. As Joe asked Whitney, “Who is the most hated guy in America?“. While Whitney told Joe about Moore, he added, “Brendan Schaub just went like, ‘Ooh that was close’,” acting like he was panting and sighing.
Brendan Schaub does receive a lot of hate online for his peculiar takes and oddball comments. However, this was an absolutely brutal piece of banter from the standup comedian. However, it seemed to all be in good fun as Joe was in stitches after making the joke.
