SUMMARY
- Michael Chandler took to his YouTube channel to talk about his upcoming fight against Conor McGregor.
- Chandler warned McGregor that he was coming for blood and wants to end the Irish fighter's career.
Michael Chandler took to his YouTube channel to send a bone-chilling warning to his opponent Conor McGregor. Chandler confirmed he was going to face McGregor at Middleweight (185lbs) on June 29, 2024, during the International Fight Week. He also reasoned why they were fighting at 185, a weight category both fighters had never fought at.
McGregor last entered the Octagon in 2021 against Dustin Poirier. The Irish fighter left the cage with a broken leg with no recovery period outlined. Over two years later, we are finally within months of watching the ‘Notorious One‘ back in the Octagon.

Chandler outlined how the fight came about. He explained that it took a lot of different turns and a lot of different rumors but the fight is on. The former Bellator Lightweight champion who has fought in the UFC five times will be coming for blood when he faces McGregor. He said, “It’s going to be a big card. It’s going to be fun and I finish Conor within the first two rounds and after that probably pretty much end his career.”
Chandler promised to inflict pain on McGregor in the most brutal way. He claimed, “I want to stand in the cage with that man. I want to break that man’s will, I want to break his jaw, I want to separate him from consciousness. Completely flatline him inside the octagon and then we say farewell to one of the sports biggest or the sports biggest star.”
McGregor announced the fight during the turn of the year. When the Irishman said the fight would be at 185, many believed it was a joke. However, Chandler explained two reasons why the fight is at 185.
Michael Chandler explains why his fight against Conor McGregor is at 185 lbs
Chandler, in the same YouTube video, opened up about why the fight is taking place at 185. Firstly, he said, “Conor wants to continue the narrative that he’s bigger than he actually is.”
According to Chandler, McGregor looks big to people on screens because of light and camera work. He even gave a shoutout to McGregor’s photographer.
Secondly, Chandler explained that McGregor did not want him to have control of the fight. ‘Iron’ reminded everyone about how he knocked out Tony Ferguson at UFC 274 and called out McGregor. He asked for a McGregor at his ‘biggest’ and ‘baddest’ at 170.
So, McGregor could not make the fight at 170 because that would give control to Chandler instead. The Irish fighter could not make the fight at 155 either because he wanted people to believe he was bigger. This left him with no option but 185.
Chandler was not worried about the weight class the fight was taking place at. He claimed that he and McGregor were in a similar weight class on a normal day and it would not make a difference if they had to cut or gain similar amounts.
